John Purbaugh
Hello,

I placed the obituary for John on his memorial. Forgot I had transferred it to you. It is from the Newton Falls Herald-May 04, 1934.
You may want to change the order of it or delete if you do not care to have it on his memorial.

Thanks.

Have I found a daughter of Phillip and Sarah Shaffer Poorbaugh?
Hello,

I believe I located the burial location of a daughter of Phillip and Sarah Shaffer Poorbaugh. I was doing some research and came upon the an obit (I emailed it to you). As I read it, I tried to trace her siblings that were listed in the obit, hoping it would lead me to her parents.

When I did, I came up with Phillip and Sarah Shaffer Poorbaugh as her parents. However, Margaret is not listed on the list of children on Sarahís memorial. So now I am uncertain if she is a child of theirs. (By the way, you have done a WONDERFUL job documenting this family!)

Poorbaugh, Phillip Franklin # 60122617
b. Nov. 3, 1816 d. Oct. 5, 1885

Poorbaugh, Sarah Shaffer # 60122514
b. 1813 d. Oct. 20, 1849

Stutsman, Margaret C. # 92073174
b. 1846 d. 1908

I calculate that Margaret was born and died as follows:

Birth Date:
Feb. 21, 1846

Birth Place:
Elkhart
Elkhart County
Indiana, USA

Death Date:
Nov. 20, 1908

Death Place:
Garrett
DeKalb County
Indiana, USA

Let me know if Margaret is indeed one of their children. I would like to link her memorial to her parents if she is. (I have submitted her maiden name Poorbaugh, as well as her birth/death and husbandís link info # 92073165 to the memorial owner, but they have not processed the edits yet)

Thank you!

RE: Ida Jones Hickman Homire
No, I only had her obituary. Nearly all of my "Poorbaugh" documents were sent to Betty Sears two or three years ago. You might check with her.

RE: Ida Jones Hickman Homire
I'm aware of the Silas Hickman/Matilda Poorbaugh Jones relationship as neighbors but don't think we can say for a fact that he is the father of her out-of-wedlock children.

Ida Jones Hickman Homire
Ida's last name was "Jones" during both the 1870 and 1880 census; however, in her 1898 marriage record to John Homire, she gave her surname as "Hickman." Hickman was also used in her
1928 obituary, "Mrs. Ida Hickman Homire, 58, wife of John Homire died Sunday in her home at 25 Carl street."

No doubt she was born out of wedlock. I have no proof as to who her biological father might have been.

Mary Louise Vallandingham Poorbaugh Landrus
Duplicate record in Maxwell, Iowa cemetery. I am now living in Maxwell and have been doing some research on Mary Louise. You will find there is another record of her, Find A Grave 145424640, that was created for Louise Landrus who is buried in the Vallingham family plot. You might want to contact the owner of that record and have it transferred to you so you can fix the duplicate records. I wasn't able to find a burial record for her second husband, Roy E. Landrus (17 Apr 1906 - Feb 1978; Cedar Rapids, Lynn county, Iowa).

Also, I am still researching Cecil Henry Poorbaugh and do not believe he is buried here in Maxwell. I found an entry in Ancestry.Com that he died and is buried in Cape Coral, Lee County, Florida. I will be checking the cemetery records at city hall in the near future and let you know what I find.

I transferred what I had. Is there any other names that you are looking for?

Would you like the Poorbaugh, Shumaker, Bittner Memorials that I made, transferred to you? Or any other ones?
