Bio Photo I became a member of the Find A Grave Community on December 13th, 2010.
I am a great great great granddaughter of John and Rebecca (Baltzell) Burkhart who arrived at what is now Albany, OR in 1847. One of their sons, Leander Columbus Burkhart, married Melissa Ann, a daughter of Hezekiah & Melissa Davidson of Polk County, Oregon. They had come to Oregon in the same wagon train. Leander & Melissa had a daughter, Nellie Olivia Burkhart, who married & had a daughter named Pearl Laura Baker. Pearl fell in love with Harry Hoyt Taylor, a school mate. It was a match made in Heaven. They married & had 2 daughters; the younger one, Patricia, was my mother. She is buried with her parents at the Multnomah Park Pioneer Cemetery in Portland, OR. I live in Portland, Oregon, with my younger sister, Nan, and her cat Lydia; her son & daughter are both married, living in the area, and her daughter made her a grandmother in 2013. Her son and his wife had a daughter in Sept 2015. I also have an older sister & a son nearby, plus a niece, younger sister & brother-in-law living in California. My father, a WWII Veteran, just passed away on July 9th, 2015. I have been creating my Family Tree since mid Oct 2010; little did I know what I was getting in to. I was able to use many of my mother's old records from the 1960s-1980s, but have been so thankful for the age of computers & also for "Find A Grave", which has helped me sort out so many of my Burkhart, Ellis, Baltzell, Taylor, & Davidson relatives on my mother's side, many in Oregon, and my Webb, Gatlin, Gholson, Warters, Uzzell & Lassiter relatives as well as all of the people they married on my father's side, many in Georgia & the Carolinas, and my son's father's family. I truly appreciate all of the time and effort all of you have spent creating this site; it's right up my alley as I enjoy sorting things out & solving puzzles, researching, putting things in order, etc. I was a Social Services Worker for many yrs., but retired due to severe migraines that will plague me for the rest of my life. I now have other health issues incl. Reynaud's, making my hands & feet cold along with pretty severe Arthritis. I spend what time I can doing research & rediscovering my ancestors who came to Oregon (stopping along the way in VA., TN., MO., ILL., Iowa, TX & CA) in 1847 along with portions of the Willamette Valley, Eastern Oregon, Southern Oregon & other places in the Pacific Northwest and California. I am finding, via Find A Grave, many more cousins throughout the United States, however, which is really exciting. I have found Jewish heritage under names of Burkhardt, Mayer, Freiburger & Huepfer going way back (to the mid 1600's) to when some family left Germany and ended up in Johnson Co., Georgia, America, among other places. I wish I knew more and will keep looking. My DNA even shows that I am part Greek, which leaves me completely lost as I haven't found the connection yet. I do tend to get side tracked frequently, especially when it comes to the graves of "little ones", Veterans & others without any flowers, & will leave flowers an Angel or other token for them, especially if they have none there, which I find incredibly sad. I ran into a Vietnam Vet in Summer, 2012, who rides at funerals (The Patriot Guard). I actually was brave enough to go up to him, thank him & shake his hand; I told him about Find A Grave & gave him the web site address. I hope he looked us up! Thanks to all of you so much for all of your help as I am only human, am just striving to be better, One Day at a Time. When my computer was hacked July 2011, I missed Find A Grave the most! I have heard from a number of relatives whose ancestors came to Oregon about the same time mine did and they settled not too far from where my family did. It is great finding our connections! Talk About A Small World! May God take care of everyone. You are some very special people, as if you didn't know! I also use site which can be very helpful and have found a wonderful site regarding info on Oregon Pioneers from 1830's to 1855, researched and published by Stephenie Flora called "".
**Spend time with your loved ones while you have them. I am so grateful to God for the special people in my life.**
My address has worked out much better although I am checking yahoo once in a while to deal with causes I believe in. Please continue to use my gmail address from now on. Thank you so very much. Take care and stay safe, preferably with someone you care about.
ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo My Shadow cat, who was badly hurt a few months back, was in terrible back pain like nothing I'd seen other than when a cat was run over. I am so grateful to Dr. Chris at Gresham Animal Hospital for helping me to help her during her final days. She was 14 yrs. old in April, and her whiskers had turned white a couple of years ago. I finally had to have her put to sleep on Dec 11th, 2014, as her pain was out of control and she had no quality of life; it was the "responsible" thing to do, but I've missed her so very much.
I was in a pretty intense car accident on Feb 17th, which totaled my little Honda (& nearly totaled me). My right leg was broken, the ankle shattered, plus numerous contusions across my chest, knees, groin, etc. Surgery was Mar 2nd & I have enough metal in me now to set off airport detectors for the rest of my life. I was w/out a computer until Mar 17th when a very dear friend brought me a lap top, exactly one month after the acc'd. I was in a care facility learning to do self care, etc. while my leg healed in a non wgt bearing cast. Interestingly, it was owned & operated by IOOF, an organization that many of my ancestors belonged to; many of them are buried in IOOF Cemeteries throughout Oregon & other states. I got home on Mar 23rd, am so happy to be with my sister and kitties again. I am using a walker as I heal, but, One Day at A Time, by the grace of God, as I understand Him, I'm gonna do this.
With All Sincerity,
Kathie L. Webb Blair (& my black cat, Shadow, in spirit), in Portland, Oregon, USA.
My little Shadow passed to the Rainbow Bridge yesterday, Dec 11th,2014.>>> Four Months Later:
My sister found two young kitties, litter mates & a bonded pair, who touched my heart. We went to see them & brought home Lucy Lu & Willy Wu, full of energy, sweetness, love & purrs. They love to play & are hysterical to watch. Willy loves boxes & paper bags; Lucy loves to carry toys around in her mouth. I will always miss my little Shadow girl, but I know these kitties will help me to heal, giving me all of the affection only a pet companion can bring. I've been back home for a while, getting used to using my walker to get around. The bills just keep coming.
Thanks to all of you for your sweet notes, thoughts and prayers. They mean more to me than you'll ever know.
My father, Robert Leon Webb, Jr., died July 9th. I feel so lost, am so grateful Nan is here. I miss our calls so very much. His memorial is #148924167.

>>>>>I am having surgery Sep 25, 2015, will be unable to use my desktop for at least 1-2 wks., will be back a.s.a.p.

Hi, Kathie,
I think you gave the wrong memorial number; this one is for a Mr. Tryon (1897-1948,) and it's a memorial I have no connection with, and which has no tokens.

It is a problem when contributors leave biographical information by way of tokens. It's against the site's rules, and I personally think it looks tacky.

Best wishes for your surgery!

Please don't leave biographical information by way of tokens, as you did on the memorial linked below. The FAQs prohibit it.

Stephen Howell (#56332094)
Kathie, I would like to suggest a correction on the note you added to the Stephen Howell memorial. This Stephen Howell (#56332094) is not the son of Margaret Carter Howell and William Howell; rather he is the brother of William. Their son is Stephen Arthur Howell (#38235045). However it is correct that this Stephen is the husband of Electra and father of seven children.

Lucy Amelia Ashton FAG#29463977
Hi Kathie,
I'd like to make some correction suggestions to the Find A Grave site for Lucy Amelia Ashton.
She was my 2nd Great Grandmother -
My research shows her baptism records in Birmingham, England (so my best guess is that is where she was born). According to the Washington State death index - she died in Seattle, King County Washington. Somewhere in my records I have an obituary that shows she died at the home of one of her daughters in Seattle.
thank you
Pat Charles

RE: Annie (Woodside) White
I'm glad that I could provide a little more information. I'm a member of the Willamette Valley Genealogical Society in Salem. When I get a chance, I'll have to see what they have in their collection on the Woodside & White families.
I'm not related but I came across the memorial for P C Kaiser 37521683 with no dates and it drew me in. To me, it is a mystery that needs an ending, so I researched and found his name was Pleasant Cicero Kaiser and his B & D dates.
Have a pleasant day.

Anna (Woodside) White
First, I'm sorry for your health issues and the loss of your family.
I'm not related to Anna, however, while researching Pleasant Cicero Kaiser (37521683) I found that his wife, Sarah (Woodside)Kaiser had a sister, Anna (Woodside) White. Their father was Jacob and mother, Anna.
I thought that you might add this little bit of information to Anna's bio - every little bit helps as they say.
BTW her maiden name might have been Woodside rather than Woodsides. I have seen it both ways.

Thank you so much! I will consider transferring Bernice's memorial to you, but she was my great-grandmother so I hope you can understand if I decide not to transfer her. I am Thomas's grandson. Raymond is my great uncle.

Deleted duplicate record, but transferred gravestone photo to the better memorial because it shows more detail. If you manage the memorial, you might consider deleting the more washed-out picture. Thanks for the notification.
