Bio and Links
Bio Photo I was born in Mt. Healthy Ohio at a very young age. We (my family) moved to Des Moines, IA in 1957, then to Illinois (1961) where we settled in Harvey, a southern suburb of Chicago.

I have been married three times and have settled in Gadsden, AL, where I will live out my days in the same kind of weather that I left Chicago for.

I was in the "bypassed" generation. My grandfathers were not in the service. My father was. Although my brother and several cousins were, I wasn't. I have three son's that were.

I have come to know the importance of our military and what a drastic price is paid whenever we are at war with someone. I want to honor those that have served. Whether they fell in battle or not, they deserve our love, respect and thanks.

Therefore, I will photograph every headstone of every soldier I see, no matter where I am. I will establish a memorial for the ones that are not already here. They have already paid me more than my time is worth to do this.

My wish is that our LOVING GOD has granted them peace.

I also leave flowers for any service man or woman I run across here with the following comment.

"Sleep well brave soldier, for a grateful country mourns your passing and thanks you for a job well done."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you would like to honor those in service now and thank them for what they are doing, go to:
http://www.greenbeanscoffee.com/coj/index.php
This will give you the chance to send your thanks to a HERO over there. They can read your letter as they sip their 'cup-of-joe' that you sent. It will not cost you as much for that drink as he/she is paying for being in harms way.
Otis Dover
Hi,
I was interested in who is next to Otis Eugene Dover. I am looking for his wife Rubye Agan Dover. It would be too easy if she was next to him!!!
Thanks,
Thank you for listing my uncle L E in Find a Grave. I noticed that someone named Dianne had given more information on him and wondered if she might be a relative. My dad, Clifton, was L E's brother. I am attempting to gather info on my family. How, now, I wished I had gotten info from my grandparents! I have never known L E's family.
Minnie Pearl Chapman
Hi David,
I doubled checked the information I had for Minnie Pearl Chapman (buried in Forrest Cemetery) at Gadsden Public Library; 254 College St; Gadsden, AL, 35901.
I did find a record of her being buried in Forrest Cemetery, Etowah Co., AL. It was in the Cemetery Survey, Etowah County; published by Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints; date published 1963. Minnie Pearl Chapman is on page 352.
I sent this information to the person who was requesting a photo of her marker so that she would know there is an existing record of Minnie Pearl Chapman's burial at Forrest Cemetery.
I also wanted to share this with you. My Grandmother's sister is buried in Forrest Cemetery and it had been many years since we last checked on her marker (a flat marker). We were shocked to find her marker completely grown over with thick grass except the very tip of one corner. In another year, it would have been impossible for anyone who didn't know the exact location to find her marker.
This maybe the case with Minnie Pearl Chapman's marker. Hope this might help.
Until Later.....God Bless,
Judith Nan Lewis
Forrest Cemetery Murphy Graves
Hello Mr. Devine - I was given your name by a fellow grave researcher and I was wondering if you could help me to locate some graves that are in Forrest Cemetery. I am looking for Patrick Fred Murphy b. 1882 d. 1930. And Lucinda Tumlin Murphy b. 23 July 1882 and died 7 March 1974. These are my husbands Paternal Grandparents and I really need the birth and death info to begin my search of his birth in Ireland. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Hi David,
Thank you so much for your kindness and for your work.
I also just noticed that you added a photo of the Military headstone for Robert L. Reinhardt and wanted to thank you for doing that. He is not related to me, but I added his memorial and have tried very hard to find more information as to who his parents were and where he was born and died, but I have not found anything else about him. I really do appreciate your adding the wonderful photo of his Militay marker to his memorial.
Until Later.....God Bless,
Robert E. Devine
Hi David - The family link had been done. I am so glad you have found a relative. I know you did not ask, but I just transfered your uncle to you. My Aunt had married into a Devine family (Arthur J Devine 1921-1974). He is buried in Holy Cross Cemetery in Cleveland Ohio. Good Luck in your research! Cindy
RE: Last names
Hi David,
I just within the last five min. , found a few memorials at the beginging of the "A" Surname list. Were those the ones you were talking about? I found the last names for two of them and deleted the rest.
That happen from type error....typing too fast. Thank you so much for making photos at Forrest.
I really appreciate your kindness.
I have a Devine line (Mary Elizabeth Ashley-Jan. 06, 1843; July 08, 1932... married James Monroe Devine-1847; Apr. 04, 1899) They had several children, but lost 4 sons during the Influenza Epidemic of 1918.
Thank you for you note and for your kindness.
Until Later.....God Bless,
Judith Nan Lewis
