Hi, Tammy,

Is "Coonie's" wife, Anna, a Cherokee?

His death certificate confirms that he is buried in Sardis Cemetery. His death certificate gives his birth date as March 25, 1850. His parents are Edward and Annie McKinley Smith.

RE: Estelle Hillis
I think I took the picture, because of its close proximity to my grandparents' grave. Also, when I saw the name Frank Hillis, it triggered a bell in my head. My grandmother's (Katherine Davis Dickson) sister (Tennie Mae Davis Hillis) was married to Frank Cheatham Hillis, Sr. and together they had a son, Frank "Buddy" Cheatham Hillis, Jr., who was married to Estelle Pendleton Hillis. We may not be blood kin, but we sure do share a lot of cousins.

It would really help if you have changes to be made to a memorial if you used the edit button in the upper right corner of a memorial to make them. Then people will not have to search through Find A Grave to find the memorials you want changed. I do not mind making the changes, but the edit button really helps.

RE: Wilburn Cemetery & Charley Wilburn Cemetery
There are several listed there at the Ellis- Wilburn Cemetery that don't belong. I verified with Michael Meador that there are only four headstones .
I believe I asked ? Croatzer or Crotzer to remove those that she added that do not belong there, but had no luck with that. It only ads to the confusion.

RE: Wilburn Cemetery & Charley Wilburn Cemetery
Hi Tammy,
As far as I know there are two cemeteries, The Ellis/ Wilburn Cemetery listed as the Wilburn Cemetery and the Charley Wilburn Cemetery which I have listed all the burials shown in the Macon County Cemetery Book, Vol I. The person who listed Jim Mathis and wife Fannie in the Wilburn Cemetery is in error. There are Ivens Wilburn listed in both, but are different Ivens Wilburn. I have e mailed Michael Meador to ask his imput to be sure, but the Cemetery Books shows two different parcel numbers so am sure of my information.
There are only 4 burials listed for the Wilburn( Ellis Wilburn ) Cemetery, Ivens Wilburn, 1809-1885,

Smith Memorials
Hi Tammy, so appreciate your helping all of us so much with links and research on the SMITH family - and their near kin! Wondering if you've ever discovered any more information on William Henry GANNON's wife (Harriet KEELE)?

We also have a cousin born in McMinnville who graduated from high school and now lives in Georgia. Her name is Jyanne Higdon Smith. I'd have to get my notes again to make sure of the spelling. She's written often of "Coonie" and Anna, her great grandparents as well.

I had an e-mail possibly linking "Coonie's" father to Eduoard Smith in NC. He had 46 children by 4 wives.

Prior to our great great grandparents living in Jefferson County, there was an older sister, Mary, who died at 15.

I keep trying to get back over to Cannon Co., one of my favorite places! I like it when folks over there say, "Well, there's Cecil Smith's kid!". One of Lucy Caroline Orrick Smith's (married to William Hamilton Smith, son of "Coonie" and Anna's sons) had a sister whose also buried in the Pleasant View Baptist Church Cemetery named Ina Belle Parker. Miss Ina's daughter, Johnnie Parker Hall's oldest daughter is in a nursing home in Woodbury. She's 87 and so WONDERFUL! One of her four sisters works graveyard there. Her baby sis lives in Manchester. It's a great family we have.

Hope I'm not repeating myself. I'm getting older by the minute.

Ralph Franks
Swindell Family
Tammy, I am the historian for a Franks family that originated in White Co., TN. Ocie and Connie Franklin Swindell were a part of that family that we have been searching for for years. I only now found them because of the four Find A Grave memorials you created at Blues Hill Cemetery. I am now asking you if you know any more about Ocie or Connie's family, even possibly contact with any that are still living. During their elderly days, my mother and father, who were their uncle and aunt, spoke very proud of having come from White Co. to Warren Co. to visit them. I wish to include them in a 1350 member family tree. Thank You. Ralph Franks,
