I was born in Mt. Pleasant at Scott Town in an old two room house at the old Lawrenceburg Hywy and Enterprise Road. I recently visited the old homestead in 9/11. Its been empty for years and wonder why it hasnt been demolished. Graduated from Hay Long High in 62, joined and retired from the Navy in 84 and currently living in Fremont, CA. Recently started searching my grandfathers (George W. Holt)and Fathers (Eugene C Braden) ancestry. |
Its amazing who you find out are your distant cousins and GGGrandparents.
12/11/10: I recently expanded my search to understand the relationships between: Thomasons, Holts, and Chapmans,if any. I made some interesting discoveries that I should have known, but my grandmother never discussed with me. I am also surpised to discover that a lot of the people I contact know each other and some are relatives. Thanks.
I want to thank Charlotte Colvett of Mt. Pleasant for her tremendous assistance in my research.
My belief: "If you did not laugh with me in life, do not cry for me in death"

I'm also from Mt Pleasant. I was wondering if you or any of your friends here might can clear up the different birth & death dates on record, verses what is on the tombstone of John Thomas Thomason.

I always feel disappointed when there is no stone. Vina's resting place has no stone or marker. But according to the plot map, she is clearly in this spot I marked with a red rose under the oak tree. I wish there had been a stone to photograph for you. If you'd like the plot map, I can email it to you.

Howard, Sorry to be so long in getting back with you. As far as the maiden name goes, I copied that info from the Maury County Cemetery book. I'll change it since you informed me her maiden name was Keltner. I am not sure where Fred Hawkins would have gotten his info from.
I recently took some more Holt pictures at Arlington. Hopefully I will be able to get them posted soon.

Did Larry have a brother named Jerry?
