Mina Benton
Benton Family
Hi! Thanks for the updates. I figure that it always helps other people's research to correct any errors that are found.

I just discovered today that I am not related to your Benton line, according to the DNA tests.

I am a Benton descendant (Jesse Benton b 1798 in North Carolina), and have been doing research on many of the Benton families who were in the United States in the 1700's and early 1800's. I am then comparing the information that I add to my tree with the YDNA surname project on FamilyTreeDNA. I am finding that it helps me to locate which families might be part of my Benton family by labeling the different families based on the YDNA tests that have been done by descendants of one or more of the branches. By doing this, I have located several other lines that I suspected were related to my line, and YDNA tests confirmed the match. I am hoping that the more that I find that match the YDNA of my family, that we will eventually figure out how we are connected a little bit further back. All of my Benton family matches have ties to North Carolina in the 1700's to early 1800's, along with descendants who moved to Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, Texas, and Illinois. We have been at a brick wall on Jesse Benton's family, but now the DNA tests are helping to knock chunks out of the wall.

Thanks again!

Thank you so much for taking the time to try to find his headstone. I thought the information on his memorial sounded strange also. I can not imagine why he would have been buried in potter's field and then moved. He had no descendants but he did have family. Thanks again for your efforts and for helping me with his grave.

How about a link to William's parents
Hi Marcia, I've created memorials for Christian & Mary Hotz Lawrence. They are: 84031424 & 84031647. Also memorials for John & Catharine, all of whom are linked. Would you kindly link William to his parents? What a sweet, kind, considerate, generous, compassionate person you are.. (am I overdoing it?) Jim

It makes me happy to hear that you found your g-g-grandmother. I took pictures of all the markers in this cemetery and posted to the site. I am sorry that I can't be of more help, other then then information on her memorial is all that I know about Mrs. Elizabeth.
