Old St. Mary's in Potsdam and Old St. Mary's in Waddington are separate cemeteries. There is also an Old St. Mary's in Canton (though most burials were moved), and an even "older" St. Mary's in Waddington that is now called "Original St. Mary's". It's not unusual as you can tell. The cemeteries just run out of room, and if they are Church cemeteries, new ones with the same name are created, sometimes as much as a few miles away. For non-church cemeteries the same problem doesn't exist as when they fill, the newer cemeteries are given different names. Cemeteries that belong to a church don't so they stack up pretty quick. I'm waiting for a fourth St. Mary's to show up in Waddington. The "New" one is also now almost full. You can see the map of the cemetery on the find-a-grave page for the cemetery if you want to see the specific location for each. | |

That would be nice. The cemetery is very large but once you break it down by sections it is easy to maneuver about! | |
