RE: Earl L. Marsh
I just took photos of the graves so I don't know anything more. Sometimes death certificates will tell the location of the burial. I've found relatives that way. Hope you find out.

RE: Hazel Marie Courtney
Hi Anita -

I'm sorry, but I don't have any Courtneys in my family tree.

You may want to contact Charles Braxton, the person who created some of the Courtney online memorials at Find a Grave, in case he's related to them. Or you could see if any of the resources listed at are of help to you too. I found some Courtneys in the search results of the MOGenWeb Clark County Project as well.

I hope you have good luck finding the parents of Hazel Marie Courtney.

RE: Abner McWhortor
I was unable to located a gravestone for Abner McWhortor in the Bear Butte Cemetary. The name was not registered in the burial book and I did look around in the older part of the cemetary, but did not find anything. If it is a possibility he was buried in the catholic cemetary or fort meade cemetary let me know and I can check there too.

RE: Painter Cemetery
We visited there probably 20 years ago and copied what stones we could find at the time. I'm a descendant of Timothy & Elizabeth Marsh, that are there. It was a big tangle of vegetation, and we had a hard time finding the stones. It is no wonder we missed something. Should have went in the winter, when the vegetation was down. This was long before digital photography and Find A Grave.

Where did you find the photo for Mary Bunnel? If you get permission from the photographer, you can post it, or the owner can..

I think I am probably the only one who has been in it in years. I plan on going out agin this year better armed. I lost a shoe and had my sweats pulled down by those viscious sticker bushes!
I hope to get a better look around this time. I will look for your family.
