RE: Permelia Lewis
Please contact Martha P Harrison, member #47721185, she would have that information. She was the person that copied the cemetery & the dates are listed in her cemetery book. You can email her directly if you need further information. Email address listed on her profile page.

Albina Lednicky
Wayne ...

I just happened across the article about the deaths of the Lednicky children in our local newspaper. Not much happening in Coleman then, so they used sensational news from other places. Sort of like national news now, I assume.

Lednicky Family at Snook
Wayne ...

Albina Lednicky died in October 1911. The children died in June 1912. John remarried Albina's sister, Frances in 1913, but they apparently were already living together in June 1912. Frances was probably the woman mentioned who was nearly drowned. That is the best I can figure.

Re: Philotus Cowles
Copy and paste this into your internet browser:

His full name appears 3 times in the book. His surname, Cowles, appears 21 times in the book.

There's tons of information on Google Books. If you use the search tools, you can search in just the free Google ebooks. Those are the oldest and in the public domain. Have fun!

Harry Newton Beard
Wayne, That is a good question. I agree with you and the parents listed on the D.C. are the same. If you go on the burials for Oak Hill Cemetery site for Jefferson Co., Alabama Harry is listed there for burial. Let me know if you want me to transfer him to problem. Thanks, Ellen

Wayne, I saw your post with Susan Tidwell, stating your wife is a Stuart descend, as I am. Have your wife email me at I want to find out more about the Stuarts.
Thank you, Travis

RE: Lindsey Scoggin
I have the handwritten, original marriage record from Chattooga County, Georgia. I will be happy to send you a copy if you will give me an email address.

The problem is that Chatham and Chattooga Counties were both abbreviated as Chat. The person who entered that information thought it was Chatham. It was Chattooga.

The Lawrence and Scoggin families were both members of the same church. Each family had an assigned pew in that church. Doubtless that's how Julia and Lindsey met. It also explains how Lindsey's younger brother Levi Jackson Scoggin met and married Lucy Lawrence.

Both the Lawrence and Scoggin families were rather well off. Malachi Lawrence owned 1400 acres in Chattooga County.

I have many if not all of the original documents.

RE: Julia Earthman correction
Hi Wayne,
unlike other memorials that I make or contribute to on this site, Julia is family......though very very distantly, and I only added what I have written down in a family history. and I know how frustrating it can be with name variances and even states of birth from census to census. I'll just. leave it as it is for now.
are you related?

Julia Earthman correction
Hi Wayne,

I made the changes as requested.....

I was wondering....I have her as SCOGGINS (with the "s" at the end)....and her father doesn't. Should I remove the "s"? And what was her mom's maiden name?
