Bio and Links
Lord, help me dig into the past
and sift the sands of time
that I might find the roots that make
this family tree of mine.

Lord, help me trace the ancient roads
on which my fathers trod
and led them through so many lands
to find our present sod.

Lord, help me find an ancient book
or dusty manuscript
that's safely hidden now away
in some forgotten crypt.

Lord, let it bridge the gap that haunts
my soul, when I can't find
the missing link between some name
that ends the same as mine.

Bates
My great, great grandfather was William Bates ,born Aug. 12,1840/1841 in Jo Davis co., Ill. could there be some relation between your Bates and mine? His daughter Ida Bates, married John Pennel my great grandfather. I was taking a photo request when I saw the Bates name. I always photograph any Bates markers I see.

I think I have a picture of Laura, Lena, and Lettie at the World's fair! I'll have to look for it.

Hi Barbara!
I got your message and I'm sure our families are connected. I'm not too familiar with connecting people via this website, but are you on Ancestry?
