RE: Bridget Grundy
William, I am sorry. I had Bridget mixed up with someone else. She is buried where I said, but I have not been to her grave and don't know if it has a marker or if she had a son Charles. Oops.

Actually, I made it back out to the cemetery this afternoon. Bridget doesn't have a stone, but she is buried on the lot with her son Charles. I will get the pics up shortly.

RE: Richard Grundy
Interesting story of Richard. The history and the lives of the people have always caught my interest. Spring Grove is a large cemetery and holds so much history as well as art. It was established in the mid 1800's and was designed to be a place of beauty. there are several lakes, with winding roads and trees and flowers. At one time, when you buried someone there they gave you a pass so you could visit because so many people where going there just to get out of the city. there is a certain amount of prestige just to have someone buried there. As I am looking for the graves for photo requests I always find some story or some interesting marker that catches my interest. Thanks for sharing Richard's story. Have a great day.

Sorry, I thought I left you a message. No there is no stone for me. I walked this section twice in the last few weeks and did not find his stone. Sorry, but I did post the picture of the area.

William,

That's great! It took me a long time to research some of the soldiers I have worked on. Ran into some real stumbling blocks, and finally got the pension files for some of them. NARA's rates are very expensive now, though. They really need to go digital!

Glad to see you on Find A Grave and will look forward to seeing your work,

Cindy

Hi William,

Delighted to meet you! Will you be entering a memorial on William Hutson? I agree, these men should never be forgotten... So many of them died from disease during the Civil War, the numbers are shocking.
