I am helping my mother with her genealogy research by locating our ancestors' graves. Then, I got involved with several friends, helping them create their trees and memorials. You can see the names we are following in my virtual cemeteries. Along the way, I have found others' ancestors and created their pages. Now I have documented our ancestry to Col. Daniel Boone which was very interesting. And, finding the "Women of the American Revolution." Next trying to break down several "brick walls."

If I have entered any information that is incorrect, please contact me for a correction. I want to keep the information as accurate as possible.

I'm happy to transfer management to family members, just ask! Please use the "Edit" tab and "Suggest a Correction" when doing so and remember to give your member# along with your relationship or reason for the transfer.

I believe that memorials should belong to family members whenever possible, as family have a personal interest in honoring their relatives and are better able to complete, maintain and improve memorials with additional details and research. I am more than willing to have family members "adopt" them.

Please feel free to use any photos I have posted in your research work. Photo courtesy of Find-a-grave member #47361005

I understand your point. Each generation seems to have half a dozen Mordecai, Thomas, Benjamin, etal in multiple branches. Wish I could recall what I sent you.

Since I am constantly updating Find A Grave information as I run across it, I can't recall the data I provided on that memorial.

Same plot - Hagelstein family
Robert and Robaline occupy the plot of the Hagelstein family (George, Emil, Louise, Gustave, and a younger George Hagelstein.) The plot is: 115-2138 which is at the back (mid point) section of Sacramento City Cemetery. The monument stone is striking with a white bird at the top. I looked up the Hagelstein name on the California Digital Newspaper Collection (free on the internet) and found a few references. The name Margaret Hartig is also connected to the plot. There was a Hagelstein Building at 9th and K Street at one time - not sure if it is still there.

RE: John Heivly headstone
My pleasure. I was mistaken though, his military service wasn't mentioned on his stone.

Sarah Miller Edit 135518396
I do believe Elizabeth Bentz is the second wife of Judge David H. Newcomer. They had one child: David McGackey or McGaughey Newcomer. Almost all older death certificates has misspellings or mistakes. I believe the first wife of Judge David H. Newcomer died after the birth of Benjamin Franklin Newcomer in 1842 or 43. She was born about 1810. Her name is unknown and not shown on census records. I believe Judge David Newcomer married his second wife, Elizabeth Bentz around 1846 before the birth of his last child David Mc. That shows the second wife on the census records with all the children, but she was not the mother of all the children. See the tree on Ancestry of Hutson Kessler family tree. That may shed some light on this.

Sarah Miller Edit 135518396
It appears the edit for the mother of Sarah Miller is Elizabeth Bentz and not Elizabeth Smith. Elizabeth Bentz was the second wife of David Newcomer and not the mother of Sarah. The wife linked to David Newcomer is his second wife Elizabeth Bentz. Is this correct?

RE: John Hively
Yes, the stone did mention his military service.

John Hively
I believe I've found this gentleman. However, the name on the stone reads John H. Heivly. He was born in 1842 and he died in 1919. Could this be the man you're looking for?
