Most of my ancestors entered the United States thru Virginia between 1620 and 1790. Some migrated west into Kentucky and Tennessee. Others moved south down the coast into Georgia and Florida.

My Dad was born of an English Father and his mom was a Texan. The majority of the Robinson Clan remain in England.

Pates and Tibbets
John, go to my profile page and search for Pate's I know I have a lot of others around south Georgia. I doubt I have any other Tibbets, but, should find one. Let me know.

Take care of Little Nancy for me. I have a special place in my heart for the babies and little ones.

Yes, the way you requested the transfers was exactly right. I could click on each one and transfer, without having to search for them.

Thank you for making it easy for me.

Edward T. Pate
John - All I have is this obituary and do not know who actually wrote it or provided information. I do know that he was in the U.S. Army Air Corps., stationed in England, and was a tail-gunner on a B-17F making bombing runs over Germany. His records do show that he, along with his crew, was shot down over the vicinity of Koln, Germany on 22 February 1944 and that they were taken prisoner (Stalag 6J Krefeld Rheinland, Prussia 51-07) until early 1945 when liberated by Allied Forces. Ed reportedly was either shot or hit by shrapnel in one ankle during that event. So, I'm reasonably certain about the purple heart, but like you I question both the Medal of Honor and the Silver Star.
My main interest in posting the obituary was to support both the date and place of death, which some people have incorrectly recorded in their family trees. However, it also points out the reason I have often not posted obituaries, since they often contain inaccurate information.
I thought I had posted a note questioning the awards, but will double check that.

RE: Mamie Bender Harger

Mamie was my wife's grandmother. I visited with her numerous times while visiting her daughter, Alice Jones and her husband Gail.

I will have to look into the transfer.

Nice hat, by the way.

RE: Millie Boyd Oliver
Hi John,
I know what you mean. Will let you know if I find anything significant. It really is difficult to find information dating back so long ago.

I dug out my book with Orange Co, VA information, hoping to find a mention of Boyds, but nothing. I appreciate your information about William, which is posted on his memorial.

My email address is

Have a nice day.

RE: Millie Boyd Oliver
Hello John,
My information came from Ancestry WilliamBonner35. Link is:

Mildred "Millie" was shown as a child of William & Mary (Wasson) Boyd. Statement made about William under Military.
"Revolutionary War Veteran. I am his great great great great great granddaughter. I have membership to DAR under #847026."

I assumed this must prove that Millie is his daughter. I will see what I can learn.

RE: Millie Boyd Oliver
Hello John,
What is Millie's memorial number? I can't find her in my data base. Wondering if you have the right Virginia Brown.
