My mother's first-cousin Betty had traced the Christ/Crist family clear back to Germany but my my mother's father's genealogy stopped with him. I didn't think that was fair to him so I started researching it.|
A distant cousin of mine (Nancy) has a webpage about Putnam County, IL (in connection with the Genealogy Trails Project)--which is where my grandfather was born--and she sent me everything I have from John Bear to my great-grandfather William Ham(m). She didn't have what I have (from my mother's father forward in time) so we collaborated and both of us have benefitted from that.
**Please note: My real name is not "Victoria", which is (rather) derived from two sources: my email address, and my entire "public name" is (or was) the pseudonym of one of my mother's favorite authors. Some people, who not only know (or know ~of~) me but are also working on the same genealogies I'm researching, would discount my findings based solely on my real name no matter how much work I put into its accuracy.**

Thank you for the offer and I'm so glad you're finding lots of good information. Our ancestors is through the Bear, Cassell, Foster's, etc. I have a pretty complete history on them and at some point determined it was just too much work to try to trace every branch off from there. So, I'm not all that interested in the Hamm family. But, my e-mail is email@example.com if you want to send me something.
I'm familiar with Nancy's web page and corresponded with her several years ago (BC - before computers).
Continued good luck,

I'm glad u contacted me. I've had moments like that, too! But, it gave me a chance to take another look at it and make some improvements.
Have a good day.

I'll try to clarify for you. After looking at the obit on his memorial and checking census and the memorials of his children, it is obvious the obit reversed the numbers (or possibly the transcriber did so). It should be 6 daus. and 2 sons. I have noted the error in his obit. The missing son was David who is mentioned in his sister, Leoria Glass's, obit shown on her memorial. I went ahead and added a memorial for him although I have been unable to locate his place of death or burial. Sarah Hamm is shown on the 1900 census as having a total of 8 ch with 6 living at that time.
You will find a number of memorials on Find A Grave with only a few of the children listed because either their names or place of burial are not known.
Hope this helps.

Victoria, sorry I have not gotten back to you. I had a family make a emergency room/hospital stay. On William I will try to look up tonight as I might have an obituary notice on a Hamm or family member and that is likely what prompted the memorial work.
|Mike McMullen||RE: William S. Hamm|
Victoria, just a quick note because of a busy schedule, however we will be touching base on William S. Hamm in a couple of days.
I have Paul & Jacob's obits. Confirmed the relationship.
|Tony Cannon||Paul's Parents|
I will get his obit just to verify. You are probably correct, but a source is desirable.

I added the links to the family. They didn't have the links option when I input the memorials in 2004. Have a good day!

No problem, that is why we do what we do. We appreciate so many that have helped us along the way and this is just a way to pay it forward.

Great job. You can also change the photo order so that the personal photos appear first and the tombstone is the last one. Your preference.
Glad to help a relative find someone.
