RE: west
We don't have any pictures of Melinda and David's kids. Where do you live? There is a West Museum in Murphy, North Carolina. I haven't been there yet.

RE: George A Welsh
I am assuming that you are referring to Find A Grave #64926806, the George A. Welsh or Welch who is buried in Fair Street Cemetery, New Philadelphia, Tuscararwas County, Ohio. I have rewritten the post since hearing from you to include additional data and to update it to my current posting standards.

The data comes from his compiled military service and pension records located at the National Archives in Washington DC. You can go there and hold the documents in your hands or obtain copies by mail. Check www.nara.gov. Mary applied for but did not receive a widow's pension, possibly because she had remarried. Her second husband's name should be there. At the time of George's death, however, all of his children were under sixteen years of age, which made them eligible for minors' pensions despite Mary's status.

The subject of my first book was George's regiment, the 87th Pennsylvania Infantry.

RE: W E Battle
Hello, I don't know too much, other than her parents were William E. Battle and Adeline Elizabeth Whitaker. I don't know of any picture of her. I did a public search for her death certificate and it says she died of "shock" following an abdominal operation.
