Bio and Links
Bio Photo I first found Find-A-Grave while doing genealogy research. This is still my main focus, as I am far from done following my family lines! Many of my lines are Dutch, as you might guess from my picture. I also have roots in Ireland and England.

I have also come to appreciate the artistry and history of cemeteries, and love to come upon markers that show the personalities of the people interred. Graves are not just names and dates...they are a bridge between the past and the present, and a place for loved ones to express their feelings and memories.

I am happy to take photos for others if I can. My memorials are all family for the most part. Please contact me if you are family too, so we can share information!

She has 'lifted' many of my photos from Wauconda and I'm ticked. I just left a post on the Find A Grave forums and last night I sent a message to the person who runs that website after I had registered...now I find I can't log into it...strange. But this shouldn't be.

RE: Scot, not Scott!
Hi Your Welcome and no problem, not to many of us only have one t in their name. My Great Aunt Mable did that to me. She was the nurse in the delivery room when I was born....Scot

Smith Osterhout
Hi Julie,

I added the links for Smith's parents. Would you like me to transfer ownership to you? I would be happy to. I am in the process of photographing Oakhill Cemetery by sections.

Let me know.

:-)

Royal Osterhout
I transferred Royal Osterhout to you so you can make the changes. It looks like maybe the grave stone reads 1901 and I misread it because it is partially covered by the grass. I'll let you make whatever changes need to be made. Good luck! -Carolyn

Lulu Osterhout
Hi Julie,

Thank you for catching the date mistake on Lulu's memorial. I have made the correction and also added a picture of her information which is displayed on the family monument.

Thanks again!

RE: Ousterhouts in Prairie Ronde
Hi Julie,

It's great what old maps can tell you! I love to look at them! I checked out the map at the Kalamazoo Genealogical Society's website. It was a little hard for me to read but still it was great to see it. It helps me to find the actual location (or possible location) of the residences too. I thought it might show the church that is associated with Pleasant Valley Cemetery but I didn't see it. (Pleasant Valley Cemetery is a church cemetery but I can't remember what denomination it is.)

Adding the names to Pleasant Valley Cemetery is a good guess. If I make it out to the cemetery this spring, I'll check more carefully for the names and for broken markers and empty foundations. I'm always excited to find a marker under a bush or some other place that hasn't been investigated.

Hope our weather breaks soon so I can go look! Thanks for sharing.

Lois
