We have been researching our family tree, off and on, for over 35 years. We discovered Find A Grave and what a wonderful resource! We decided that we wanted to help so Diana became a photo volunteer it is great to be able to get pictures for others. She has now made it a goal to try and get photos for cemeteries in Callahan County, Texas as that is were we live. Please let us know when we make mistakes as sometimes it is hard to read the tombstones. If you find your family we have added and they are not related to us and you want them to be transfer just let us know. Also, you have our permission to use any of our photos for family research. | |

 | William Henry Mayes FAG#66658747 Hi John and Diana,
I am also a Find A Grave fan and contributor, as well as a family research.
William Henry Mayes was a brother to my deceased husband's Great Grandfather, Joseph Wallace Mayes. I've going back to all the graves I have started and adding family info to help other researchers of my Mayes Family.
I have parents of William Henry Mayes'
John F. Mayes (1824) Mary Eliz Stephens ( 1836) both born in Tenn. William Henry and Fadima were married in Todd County, Ky on May 27,1862
If I can help you in any way please let me know.

 | Susan C. Wright / Admiral Cem. Again, thanks for your efforts. Could you please, again, correct the initials for her spouse James Knox Pettus ( J K P ) Wright, which now read as "JKR" Wright? Susan was SUSAN CALLINE HADLEY, b 19 May 1845 Grimes Co. TX, d 21 Apr 1905 Baird, Callahan Co. TX, dau of Dennis Porterfield HADLEY (21 Nov 1824 Williamson Co. TN - 6 Jan 1901 Callahan Co. TX) and his spouse Mary "Polly" BOGGESS (Aug 1824 - 29 Aug 1896 Callahan Co. TX), both of whom are buried in the Ross Cemetery, Callahan Co. TX. [They married 18 Apr 1844 Montgomery Co. TX; my dates are from the Wright Family Bible, verified whenever possible by other primary source records.] Dennis Porterfield Hadley was the son of Col. Joshua Hadley (1786 Cumberland Co. NC - probably June 1845 Montgomery/Grimes Co. TX) [It should be noted that Joshua's residence fell into Grimes Co. TX when it was formed 1845/46 from Montgomery Co. and his probate was transferred from Montg. to Grimes Co. after Sept 1845.) Col. Joshua Hadley and his spouse Obedience Grantham Hadley are buried on a hill near the Ratliff Family Cem, Roans Prairie, Grimes Co. TX (site of Joshua's "fort" home). The HADLEY genealogy has been extensively researched over many years by many fine researchers and abundant records exist, e.g., The Hadley Society's records. | James Knox Pettus Wright "JKP" Thank you so much for your entry; could you please correct his title line initials, which now read as J K R and should be J K P. He was of course my ancestor, whom I've researched for many years. His full name was, as indicated above, James Knox Pettus Wright. Both Knox and Pettus were his ancestor/family surnames, as you probably know. I also have copies of the Wright family Bible which has many birth, death and marriage entries, including entries for J K P Wright and his spouse Susan Calline HADLEY, who married 21 Sept 1865. They were my great, great grandparents -- & also the grandparents of my maternal grandmother, Areina "Rena" (Bell) Lindsey b 1900 Baird, Callahan Co. TX. Further, their daughter Laura Ann (Wright) Bell (1868-1910) and her spouse Samuel Houston Bell were the parents of this maternal grandmother Rena Bell Lindsey (1900-1972 Ardmore, Carter Co. OK) who married Guy Lindsey in 1924. Many of us, including my daughter Maren Schouw Fuller, do so appreciate the wonderful work you have done on this site. I should mention the Wright family Bible records were provided to me by Mrs. Terri McKenzie of Vero Beach, FL, to whom I am most grateful. Gratitude also to Vicki Horton who has done such fine research and generously shared her records on our mutual Wright, Pettus, Knox, Wadkins and Marable ancestors. | Gentle That would be great if you can transfer him. Thanks for all the work you do. Finding his grave is a rather large step in putting some pieces together about him and his mysterious death. This is why we do this, isn't it? To help people put pieces together. Thanks again.
