I am a 5th generation Washingtonian and have been doing family history work for over twenty years on my roots in the DC, MD, VA and PA area. This work is one of the top five things I find most rewarding in my life - and as I near my own retirement I look forward to assisting FAG researchers more.|
I find now I am beginning to migrate information from my personal tree to FAG files which we researchers know will help to strengthen the overall fabric of contributions. I have often, on a hunch, used Find a Grave to just see if I can pull up anything on a random person -- and often FAG records have been the key to opening information on this person. What a feeling that has been! Only researchers can understand that thrill!
Thanks so very much to the selfless volunteers who do this as a labor of love; it is one of the best things the internet brings to my humble home.

Hi Kathy - I love photos of people on the memorial pages (unless they are unsightly with lots of white space and are blurry and out of focus. The photo you added is great!
However, I would appreciate it if you could correct the photograph listing. The icon that shows up is a tombstone and not a picture frame which means it was added as a grave photo, not a person photo. When you upload a photo use the pull down menu - grave is the first line and the second line is person. Please repost and use the pull down menu to select person.
As far as adding photos "without permission" don't let anybody tell you that you need permission. Here are the FAQs that apply:
Can I add photos of 'non-famous' people and/or of the grave?
Yes! We think that the online memorials are greatly enhanced by biographical photos, family photos as well as shots of the actual headstone. Please, no post-mortem photos (showing the deceased) of any kind. To add a photo for a non-famous person, simply go to their grave record and click the 'Add a photo' button. There is a limit of 5 total photos on non-famous memorial pages, unless the page has been sponsored then the limit increases to 20 photos.
