Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am retired, and married with 4 adult children and 6 grandchildren.

I located find a grave by accident, and was so moved and impressed with the generosity of the volunteers that I decided to join as a volunteer.

It doesn't seem that I can say thank you enough to all the kind people that have helped. I hope that I will be able in some small way to return the favor, by helping others.

I have been a member for over four years. I realized that I need to update the number of grandchildren. The little girl in the photo is one of my grandchildren. She is now 7 years old.

Cora Cochran
Thank you for assisting in this effort. There is no stone for Cora, and the extensive work that volunteers for Salem Pioneer Cemetery had noted that. There are Cochrans and Leightys in Plot 854 and while there is nothing to memorialize Cora, I was thrilled to find so many little wild violets in that plot - I am sure they grow for her, which is ever so wonderful - their fragrance is a sure sign of Spring

RE: absalom guthrie
Thanks for your reply. Your link was attached to the Guthrie memorial and I was attempting to contact some of the family to let them know.
I'm completely new to this , so I hope everyone bears with me.
There is some indication that Absalom was moved twice but I want to research that further. My Dad used to say he was moved to Logan, Ohio and Union Grove records show that Absalom was moved from the Logan cemetery.
If so, the poor old soul didn't get much rest for a while.....

absalom guthrie

Was at the Armstrong Cemetery on September 13th, 2014. I noticed that Absalomís stone was reset back by the fence. Have not had a chance to talk to the trustees, but if this is the stone that was propped against the big tree, his grave was moved to Union Grove Cemetery at Canal Winchester, Ohio, several, several years ago. You can view his current stone and site on Find-A-Grave, also. His wife was Sarah Armstrong Guthrie. She was born Nov. 15, 1817 in Preston Co. VA (WV) and died Dec. 31st, 1901 in Canal Winchester, Ohio and is also buried at Union Grove.
Three of their daughters are buried there also.
My Dad was William Armstrong Primmer and he told the story many times about the grave being moved, and the stone being left, because a new stone was bought.

My Dadís Mother was Nellie Mabel Armstrong and she was married to William Albert Primmer.

I spent many hours of my childhood and adulthood at the cemetery, with the family working, before it was turned over to the township.

Hope to hear back from you....

RE: Thank you for the photo
It was my pleasure. FYI - There was a broken child-sized stone propped up against Edwin's stone, but I couldn't read it, although I took a picture if you need it.
