I love researching my own family history as well as helping others research theirs. |
My own family includes the names Stephens/Stevens, Ferrell, Wentz, Christenbury, House, Smith, Black, Ross, Donahue, and Richardson from Charlotte and the surrounding area. My grandmother, Charline Josephine Dumont Stephens, was from Leige, Belgium.
Please, be nice:-)
I am typically willing to add information and make corrections to my memorials on a "good faith" basis, so please make sure your facts are accurate before asking me to post them. I may ask for sources before posting the information. If you are not sure about information, I am perfectly willing to help you search! Please don't hesitate to ask.
Also, please make suggestions and corrections NICELY. Please do not make rude demands or send rude messages. If my memorials and photos are within FAG guidelines, I will likely ignore bully demands and opinions.
Sorry-I do not link to relatives in "unknown" cemetery, as I do not believe this is truly "finding a grave". However, I am happy to add names of relatives to the bio. I also believe this causes alot of confusion when the grave of the person is found, and a memorial is created by someone else in the proper cemetery.
The person who created the original memorial in "unknown" cemetery edits the memorial to the proper cemetery, causing a duplicate, and then forces the creator of the first "legitimate" memorial to delete theirs. This is unfair.
When I find a requested grave and get the photo, I always check to make sure the requested memorial is not a duplicate. If it is, I will post the photo to the first memorial page and do my best to let the requester know where to find the photo.
I am very happy to do it. It makes me happy when someone in my memorials is found by a family member. However, I will only do it with the agreement that my original memorial will not be deleted, and then reposted using my original photo. That is just not cool, and just not necessary! The only time I will not transfer is if it is a family member.
**Please, when you can, take a minute to clean off grave markers covered in dirt or grass so that they are not buried forever:-)

A census record listed Jack as "John C.". I saw the obit you included in Jack's memorial. So I changed his name from John to Jack in his mother's memorial. Thanks for the assistance. Also found another of the Mumpower boys at Sunset Memory Gardens and linked him too.

What is your connection with J Black & Lula Baker Black? Lula Baker Black is my great grand aunt. My great grandmother is Carrie Elizabeth Baker Pressley Cranford. I will have to look and see how many of the Black family I have from that cemetery. I have many relatives buried there. If I have any distant related memorials I will be happy to transfer those.
I do have a lot of corrections to do on my tree due to letting folks share info when I was first starting out on the hunt. ;/ LOTS to do on this line now that I'm looking at it. Will work on it as time allows.

You are very welcome. I am glad I could help - with the added bonus of doing what I love to do the most - take pics and 'play' in cemeteries :~)

No, I spray shaving cream on a piece of cardboard, then wipe on the gravestone. The cardboard gets it in the crevices. And it will desolve in a few minutes. Works great on old gravestones like at Steele Creek.

It is always nice to locate a lost family member on findagrave, but even nicer when a volunteer takes a beautiful picture of the marker. Thank you!

Thank you for the photos of Charles Lee, and Hazel Evelyn Etters. Are you close to any other cemeteries? I hope you might be able to help us with other photos in the future.

Yes, i looked up the grave sites and there are a lot of Blacks buried there. Are you looking for a particular name or do you just need to to send you pictures of all the Black grave sites? Will get everything to you as soon as possible. Betty
