Interested in research of the Morecraft family in Clark County, IL and the Morecraft families in White County IN and Champaign County, OH or those related.|
There are a number of Morecraft families in the United States and Canada with male Morecrafts entering this land as early as 1638 with entries continuing to this day. This means that not all Morecrafts are directly related. Our family so far has been tracted to the birth of John in 1762 in Bucks PA. It is believed but not proven that our ancestor arrived in 1666 through the Port of Maryland. This person was named John Morecraft and was both a medical doctor and an attorney at law. He also served in the governing body for the area of Maryland. He arrived in this land about 1638 through the Port of Virginia at JamesTown. He later travelled by ship to St. Marys, MD in 1666.
John Morecraft born 1762 in Bucks Co., PA had two wives, 1st Hester Jones mother of seven children born in NY lived in Ohio and Indiana. Second wife Julia mother of two children Israel and Joseph and descendants in Clark Co, IL. All descendants from Clark Co., Illinois are descendants of Joseph as Israel died in early twenties with no known children.

No we are not related in any way to the Gerhardt's.
My immediate family is buried at St. Boniface and thought I would complete some of the other families that my grandparents, parents as well as myself knew. Somehow I missed your memorials when I added mine but only caught it, as I was recently in Clark, and was adding new headstone pictures.
Pete & Marcella lived a block from us and attended the same church. I stated previously that Pete worked at the U. S. Post Office, that my father was postmaster in Clark. I knew their son Jim, his wife

This is the final dupe on the Gerhardts. My Find A Grave Memorial# 129835927. Again I will delete mine once you contact me.

Sorry, again I made an error by not checking closely enough. My memorial # for her 129835993.
There is new material there too. In fact, I knew her as I grew up in Clark and Pete, her husband, worked at the Post Office--my father was postmaster.

I inadvertently made a memorial for Susanna Masterson Gerhardt after you created your memorial in 2013. If you would glance at memorial number 129835841 there is info there that might be useful to edit. My information came from the Centennial Clark County Book 1881-1981 written by residents and family members. Once I ear back from you I will delete my memorial.

I don't think so, but not sure. I have added her parents, and according to her obituary, she was the surviving child and 1 brother and 1 sister preceded her in death (all in IL).
Hi Don, I just talked to Camellia. She and Jim are really nice people. Would you please add Alice Vondrasek first husband to her memorial 54139501 I see where you have him written in the nice memorial you wrote for her. thank you very much.

Please send corrections through the edit button. It saves a lot of back and forth.
the wife number you give me is not correct for Alice Foley.
