Hi, I'm living in germany, for the past three years I have been doing research on our Dutch ancestors who emigrated to Grand Rapids around 1892. Fascinating subject, a very difficult, timetaking task but so rewarding, especially when you meet people sharing the same passion helping you with their knowledge! |
Thank you so much, all you lovely volunteers, much appreciated!

|Marni Turnbull Rose||RE: Your Grandfather|
The weather here has finally stopped raining and I'm planning to hit the cemetery again this weekend to check out the various areas to see if I can find a headstone.
|Marni Turnbull Rose||Your Grandfather|
I just sent a note through the system to explain why it may be a few more weeks until we know if there is a headstone for your grandfather.
PGS stands for Permit Ground Section and the cemetery office has given me three different locations to look. Evidently, they set aside areas for those who cannot afford the expenses at the time of their death. There may or may not be a headstone.
I will do my best to check out these areas and hopefully we will have good news!

I just wanted you to know I gave a crack at trying to locate the grave of DONWE MAYER today, with no success. That doesn't mean that the marker isn't there. In that particular area many of the markers have become buried over time and many are extremely difficult to read unless the light is optimum. Anyway, perhaps someone else will have better luck. I just wanted you to know that at least one person attempted to answer your request.
