I have been working on my family history and associated genealogy for over 30 years and have had the usual helping of surprises and brick walls. My discovery of this website has unblocked a couple of areas of research, mainly in the Thorburn line.

One of the things I have been wanting to undertake for a few years has been a "One Name Study" because I have had a lot of help from two individuals who have done just that on two other names in my tree. The Thorburn name doesn't seem to have anyone doing a study (that I've been able to find) and I intend collecting a reasonable body of data before formally registering my interest on the Guild of One Name Studies website (

I do have a couple of headstone images that I will upload in the near future and hope to be able to contribute more meaningfully over the next few years.

Kind regards to all

Grace Banks
Hi Jim,
Almost immediately after I sent my e-mail in reply to you, I found a Grace Taylor Banks on this site, but she's in the United going to pursue that and see where it goes. Also, I often link no visitor pages to my virtual cemeteries, do you mind if I add Grace and her husband? I almost feel as though I know her by now, as I have been tracing that specific name for over a month, now, and I kept checking back on her page to see whether there was any traffic, i.e. a Taylor stopping to say hi. Hope to hear from you, soon - Best, RCP and Gannon Blue
