RE: Ivan M. Jones, JR
Probably are related to my husband. His father (Barkley Wilson Cavender) was born in Graves County and most the Cavender's and Stark's there are related to him.

Ok, I see your first name is Mott and Linda Mott sent you the message. I'm awake now, I need to contact Linda Mott. Thanks.

Couldn't help seeing the message below the one I sent. Is there a Verna Margaret Mott that married William Anthony Slade in Nova Scotia on your tree?? My mother was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia and he is her 2st cousin 1xremoved.

RE: Mott Family
Hi, I am so sorry it has taken so long to get back with you. My Mott line is from Canada and came into the US via Nova Scotia and show up in Dorchester, MA where Thomas Smith Webb Mott, b.1800 - d.1889, was educated and an offshoot of Brown University and became a well known Episcopal minister. He had a brother Henry, who married into a wealthy Canadian family involved in politics, and another sister who married into the Walter Baker Chocolate family (she was his first wife and died on a trip to England to visit family). My T.S.W. Mott ended up in NC where he married a lady from Hillsbourgh, NC (Amanda Phillips). I cannot confirm his parents as of yet, but I suspect they either remained in Canada or perhaps came to MA and went back to Canada prior to the Revolutionary War. It does seem that the Motts may have ended up in Canada due to the Huguenot persecution. I believe that T.S.W. had an Uncle in Halifax and maybe you family could be traced back to him. I know there are lots of assumptions here, but ya gotta start somewhere huh? Anyways, sorry I wasn't off more help and again, sorry for taking so long to respond.

Linda

I was wondering if you found the stone at Johnson Grove Cemetery o.k.? I couldn't remember exactly where it was. I hope you found it. Daniel

It has been years since I took those pictures, so I am not sure. From the picture of the stone I can see the tree in the background so It may be in the center of the cemetery, depending on which way the stones are facing, east or west. If they are facing east then it may be on the east end of the cemetery. I wish I could help you more. My Jones family are out of Bloomfield, Mo., but my wife's Jones family are from Hickman, Ky. I don't believe we are related to S. T. Jones. Daniel Jones

We must be cousins! I descend from the same Aaron Lockert. You can email me. Are you on Edwina's mail list for the MyFamily Lockert site?

Mott-
Thanks again. I had his dob correct in my genealogy file, but had entered it incorrectly in the Find A Grave memorial.

I have to ask you if you by chance are in or near to New Madrid County, and have been to or can get to the Dawson Cemetery? The headstone for the Waggeners there is a four sided obelisk, which is obviously laying on the ground. The three sides that are visible are for Zelia, the mother and two of the sons, Benjamin and Joseph. The fourth side of the headstone is obviously laying on the ground and not visible. I can only assume that this is for the father, Robert Garnett Waggener. I would love to see if that is the case and get the information and a photo of that other side. Among other things, I don't have precise dates for Robert's birth or death. If perchance you are nearby, would it be possible for you to get there sometime and check this out? I guess I could try just adding Robert's memorial and requesting a photo, which not that I think of it, I will try.
