Caroline King
Hi! Can you please tell me why you believe Caroline's maiden name to be Naramore? It says Eldred on her marriage certificate. Thanks.

Thomas O'Meara & Elizabeth Tierney
Re their 14 children - I too got it confused. They were married in Ireland and had their first 2 children there in 1823 and 1824 and emigrated to CANADA in 1826, where they had there next 11 children between 1829 and 1850. They emigrated to IOWA in either 1850 or 1851. Only their last child was born in Iowa (in 1851).

Here is the Thomas O'Meara and ELIZABETH Tierney tree, with sources and newspapter clippings:

Thomas J. O'Meara
1844 - 1893, was a son of Thomas O'Meara and ELLEN Tierney, NOT to be confused with the family of Thomas O'Meara and ELIZABETH Tierney. He can be found in the 1852 Carleton county census with his parents. He also is mentioned in a couple of the Davenport Daily Republican newspapers: 4 Feb 1891 edition "T.J. O'Meara received a telegram from Ontario, Canada, announcing the death of his mother" (Ellen Tierney O'Meara died 31 Jan 1891 whereas Elizabeth Tierney O'Meara, wife of the other Thomas O'Meara, died 3 Jan 1858 and is buried in the Immaculate Conception cemetery, Petersville cemetery in Iowa. Another newspaper article of 26 Aug 1892: "T.J. O'Meara received a telegram announcing the death of his brother, D.D. O'Meara in Ellensburg, Washington." Thomas J. O'Meara married Mary Killian in 1873.

Thomas O'Meara and ELIZABETH Tierney did indeed have a son Thomas - Thomas Francis O'Meara (1832 - 1903). He married Mary Kelly in the 1850s in Iowa.

Thomas and ELIZABETH Tierney O'Meara emigrated to Iowa in 1826 with their first 6 children (the first 2 were born in Ireland in 1823 and 1824). The next 7 children (they had 14 in all) were born in Iowa between 1838 and 1851.

People are always confusing the 2 families and it is understandable what with the similarity in the names, however it has all been sorted out and is available online at Ancestry with sources given.

Hope this helps.
