|Brett||Moses Shepherd gravestone|
Thank you for posting the photo of my relative's gravestone. I was in Middletown a year ago, and forgot to visit the Layton family cemetery while I was there.

Good Day, Sorry no - I don't have the plot and block number - but if I should locate it, then I will let you know. Are you aware that Joe Dangler compiled an index for the Old First Methodist Cemetery, and I know that the Historical Society in Freehold, NJ has a copy. In that index, Cousin Joe did indicate the block and lot numbers as well as he indicated stones which were unreadable, buried, etc. I will keep my eye out and should I see something, then I will be certain to let you know.
Of course, please keep me posted should you have luck on your end. Thanks, Mike
|Michael wolcott||RE: Charles W. Roswell|
Thank you for contributing this info. I am looking for the grave of Mary Catherine Roswell the wife of the above Charles. She died between 1920 & 1930. I am looking for a death date so I can obtain her death certificate. If you have any info on her I would appreciate it. Have no reason to believe she isn't butied with him or close to him. I will be searching for the gravestone. She is the sister of my great grand-mother Sarah Jane Morris/Emmons. Her father William H. Morris and wife Lydia Smith Morris are also in the cemetary. My grand-father, John E. Layton's sister Alice Layton married a Wolcott. Thanks again for any help and the help I already received. Joan

Thank you for writing. I checked my death indexes from the Red Bank Register, and I did not find a death announcement for Mary Catherine Roswell. Is it possible that she may have married again?
You should check Superior Court in Trenton, NJ - they have wills and if Mary Catherine Roswell left a will, then you could learn about what time period she died. Unfortunately, the wills at that time period do not supply the actual date of date, but you can learn when the will was probated. As far as I understand from your query, you seek only the Roswell information, but if you are seeking any Wolcott information as well, please let me know.
