|Bill Holder||William Presley Holder|
This is my Holder line, and I have been researching it for the last 20 years. I have taken the DNA test, and we fall into the Holder DNA group(D1a)at http://www.holderdna.com/.
There has only been one other line with a perfect 64 marker DNA match. This line is John Presley Holder b.15 May 1813 in VA, and d.15 Jun 1873 Glen Rose, Somervell Co., TX. We believe John Presley Holder was the son of Beverly Holder b. Pittsylvania Co., VA. I also believe that Beverly was the son of Presley Holder b. 1766 Pittsylvania Co., VA d. after 1850 Little Mountain Section, Surry Co., NC.
DNA proves we are related, but not direct, to Captain John Holder that went into Kentucky with Daniel Boone. Also anyone interested in joining the DAR, or Sons of the American Revolution, we have a line back through Charlotte Smith b: 14 Feb 1790. Her Father Nathaniel Smith served 5 years, 8 months in the Virginia Line. Proof can be found in the pension application of his wife Susannah Moyers "That she is widow of Nathaniel Smith who was a soldier in the Virginia Line in the War of Revolution that the aforesaid Nathaniel Smith enlisted in the nation service near the commencement of the War in the County of Culpeper in the state of Virginia and served five years and eight months."
I have tons of good information I have collected over the years. Please feel free to contact me.

Hi, my grandmother, Mary Saltzman, was a McFerran. Her mother was Annie Clark McFerran. I was doing a little research and stumbled upon this site.

I remember Virginia very well. Such a sweet lady. I use to go to her house and give her perms when she could not get out, when she lived in Rumsey. I also went to the Rest home in Owensboro and gave her perms. I bet she was a beautiful Lady when she was young, she was a beautiful "senior" Lady. She kept herself very prime and proper. She was in a wheel chair when I knew her, I think Old Arthur, I really do not remember why. I am glad family will care for her, was the husband there also? I do not remember.
