Emma Lyons Simpson
Mary, I saw the find of grave post on my great grandmother, Emma Lyons Simpson. I was curious as to how this info was discovered. I have her death cert. and I have researched the records on Point of Rock cemetery but have also been there in person and there is no grave marker. Do you have any additional information you can give me on this finding. I have been researching my dad's side of family and it is getting difficult. I would like to eventually put a gravestone on Emma's plot if I can locate it. thanks for any info you have. you can conatact me at thanks, Lorraine Scheib

RE: Eliza Karns and Adam Karns
Thank you for posting that information. I appreciate it.

I've been puzzled about a few things in the Stephen Sigel family. As you pointed out there is nothing that directly ties Eliza Jane Sigel Karns with Stephen Sigel and Rebecca Snyder, though there are a lot of supporting facts. As an example, as you showed Eliza's death certificate says her parents were John Sigel and Clara Snyder.

The confusion of parentage is also true of Eliza's brother John. He is listed in the 1860 Census and the 1870 Census as in the household of Stephen and Rebecca Sigel, but his marriage certificate to Nora Deyarmin says his mother's name is Nancy Sigel. John's death certificate says his mother is "Nicey Wigfield."

What do you make of this confusion over who the parents are of John and Eliza Jane Sigel?

Eliza Jane Sigel Karns
That was a very impressive memorial you wrote for Eliza Jane Sigel Karns. I had a question. You mentioned "Source: Marriage records of Mt. Pleasant Evangelical Lutheran Church, East Providence Twp., Bedford Co., Pa.; Rev. George C. Probst. Page 43" Where can I find a copy of this book?

BENNETT burial question
I noticed that you have two entries - one for Rebecca (PERDEW) Bennett, (#105598129), and Wesley Bennett (#117229093) as being buried in Prosperity Cemetery, in Hewitt (Clearville post office), PA.

I believe this to be in error, as I'm positive that they are buried in the Bennett Family Cemetery further to the south. (This cemetery is located a few hundred yards from the building that used to be the Prosperity Church, before it moved to it's new location closer to Flintstone.)
I also have pictures of their gravestones if you would like to add them to the posting.
(They are both in my family line as cousins.)

Thank you,

Jerry Miller

Burket Cemetery Bedford PA
Just learning to do Ancestry and I believe my Ancestry on the Burket and McMurtrie side date back to late 1700's
My Great Grandfather was Levi Burket born 1863 and his wife was Caroline Carrie McMurtrie (they are burried here in Redondo Beach where I will be going)
Before then, McMurtrie and Burket was from Bedford area from late maybe early~! 1700's ~!!
My Mom's Mom Miriam Dess (Eugenia aka Miriam Dess I see someplace) Burket Nagle had my Mother in 1911 24 Sept 1911 Virginia Faye Nagle, seems that she was born in Fayetville? I am really having a hard time finding ANYTHING about my Mom's Birth~! any hints or help would be very appreciated..Thank you in advance

Anna Maria Daughtery Richter
Hi Mary,

I saw that you had posted Anna Maria Daugherty Richter as being buried at the Waterside Cemetery. I too am a Bedford County native, but now live in Virginia. Anna Maria would be my great-great grandmother. I suspect that she is buried next to her husband, Adam Richter, my great-great grandfather. I have been able to find Adam's and his second wife, Barbara Furney, but nothing on Anna Maria. Any information would be helpful.

She was born 02 APR 1882 Clearville, Bedford Co., PA and died 27 OCT 1952 Greenwood, Blair Co., PA. Her parents are Francis D and Sarah Lavina McFarland Houser. Can you add her to Find a Grave?
