Bio and Links
Bio Photo Hello, my name is Mark Douglas Browning and I recently moved from Tucson, Arizona to Dallas, Texas... and back to Tucson again!

I was born in Kentucky, and have lived in many other states across the U.S. including: New York, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, Missouri, Texas, and Arizona.

My ancestors migrated to America from Germany, East Prussia, South Wales, England, Isle of Man, and Ireland. Some of these ancestors married Native Americans (Chickasaw and Cherokee). My paternal great grandfather was a Shupe/Shoop from Southwestern Virginia.

I descend from the Gross, Cooper, Brock, Simpson, Saylor and Salyer families of Harlan County, Kentucky as well as the Griffith family of Whitley and Bell County, Kentucky on my maternal grandmother's side. My Cooper and Evans families were originally from Campbell and Union County, Tennessee before moving to Harlan County, Kentucky.

I descend from the Carby and Hunt families of Grayson, Hardin, and Hart Counties in Kentucky as well as the Muss, Hopewell, and Foster families of Bullitt County, Kentucky on my maternal grandfather's side.

I descend from the Craig and Delk families of Whitley County, Kentucky and Campbell County, Tennessee; the Craig and Williams families of Union County, Tennessee; the Fox family of Campbell County, Tennessee and Whitley County, Kentucky; and the Lawson family of Whitley County, Kentucky on my paternal grandmother's side.

I descend from the Shupe/Shoop family of Wythe County, Grayson County, Scott County and Wise County, Virginia; The Browning family of Russell County, Virginia, then Lee County, Virginia, then Hawkins County, Tennessee and later Scott County and Wise County, Virginia and even later Harlan County, Kentucky; and the Looney family of Hawkins County, Tennessee on my paternal grandfather's side.

Books I have authored:
The Descendants of John Muss & Elizabeth Ceise

I am very happy to transfer memorials to family except in situations where the memorial created is a member of my family.

RE: Melvina Delk
Hello Mark,

Our son is 34, but I remember when he was one year old. Enjoy every moment, babies grow up very quickly. The Delks will wait!

Melvina did add a lot of interest to our work at Mt Hope. If we find any records for Nadine, we will let you know. Do you want the Delks transferred to you? I am just a neighbor of the cemetery and am happy to transfer memorials to family.

Melvina Delk
Hello Mark,

Did you receive the funeral home record and obituary we sent to you showing that Melvina Delk was buried at Mt Hope Cemetery in Seneca not at Manlius? We noticed that she was still at Manlius on Find A Grave. We wondered if you wanted the copies resent to you. We know there is no stone at Mt Hope, but she is shown in the Mt Hope cemetery records as buried there.

RE: Cemetery Book
Hi Mark,
Yes I do have a few copies left. It is available directly thru me or is for sale on amazon.
It sales for 39.99 thru Amazon plus shipping.
If you buy it directly from me it is $40.00 including shipping. If purchased directly, just send a check or money order for $40.00 and I will get one in the mail to you.
The book has 350 pages and about 130 cemeteries just on the Clover Fork Area. When we published the book I had not completed all of Evarts Memorial Gardens only section 1 and 2 are in the book. I also did not include an index, trying to keep the price down.
Since publishing the book last year, my brother and I have finished all of Evarts Memorial Gardens and I am having it printed now as a seperate book. I have also made an index for the original Clover Fork Book along with some corrections to the book that I will send you.
To have the original book revised and published again is expensive, that is why for now I am doing EMG seperate. It ended up being 120 pages by itself, so that would add quite a lot to the original book.
Go to Amazon and check it out to see what you think the just let me know.
I live in Michigan and I am going to Harlan for a week with my brother on Tuesday for more research.
Thanks

Leon Craig
Hi Mark,
I have a picture for you of Leon Craig
Find A Grave Memorial# 69281584
He is buried in Section 1, which is the first section on the right when you enter the cemetery.
My brother and I are researching the cemeteries in Harlan Co. and published a book on the Cemeteries on the Clover Fork Area of Harlan County.
We just finished documenting Evarts Memorial Gardens this past November 2014, so only section 1 and 2 are in the book. There are as you know 6 sections to that cemetery, which is the largest one on the Clover Fork.
Hope this helps you some, I added the picture to his memorial

RE: Donald Jasper
I posted a pic of him if you want to see him, it was taken just a few months before he was killed. I in no way plan to change any thing on his bio. and all his brothers and sisters are linked, I did that a couple of weeks ago except for my dad which is still living. My mother is buried at the same cemetery and that's where my father wants to be. Again Thank you
