There is no Key to success...Only a Combination.
Since moving across the country recently I have been looking for something to do with my time. I find that walking in cemeteries to be relaxing and soothing to my soul. It's almost like they are calling to me to help locate their family who is looking for them. This has also helped me get in my 10,000 steps in a day LOL.
About 10 years ago I found it to be helpful in my genealogy to take pictures of the gravestones, headstones and burial markers. It made it so much easier to transcribe when I got home. I know how this has helped me and know how important it is to others who might not be able to get to a cemetery themselves.
In the 25 years of genealogy I have found it to be so helpful for those who have already photographed members of my family that I couldn't get to either because of distance or time. I stumbled onto Findagrave.com about 3 years ago in searching out a family name and it is one of several sites I check for family names.

Please provide a source or sources for any change to memorials. Linking will be done only when a source is provided.
TRANSFERS per Find A Grave guidelines:
Simply having someone in your family tree is not grounds for a management transfer request.
Transfer requests should be for direct relatives within four generations. This would be your siblings, parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Explain your relationship in the transfer request! Any non-direct relatives (aunts, uncles, cousins, etc) are not required to be transferred. Keep in mind that the original contributor may also be related to the memorial and may not make the transfer. | |

 | RE: Davis pics You are very welcome. The stones have some wear on them so I brushed away some loose dirt before taking the pictures. It was a beautiful sunny morning so I thought I'd head out to take pictures. Believe it or not, there is still snow on some parts of the cemetery. | | | Sharon Crowder
 | RE: Cunningham, Dula, Bond Thank you so much for the transfer. I will take care of them. They are my husband's aunt and her family. I knew Jorea Dula well. We use to go places together. Thanks again, Sharon Crowder | | | Janet Marie
 | Maple Grove Cemetery Photos I went to Maple Grove Cemetery today hoping to take pictures of the graves you requested. Unfortunately, the snow is too deep.
The cemetery is very small so I'm sure I'll be able to take the pictures in a month or so when the snow melts. I won't "claim" the requests yet because there might be someone who gets there before me.

 | Maude Mayfield 67725529 Hi
Please make the following additions to Maude Mayfield:
Name: Maude Leslie Mayfield

Please link her to her parents:

Thanks!
P.S. All my info was taken from census records and from my ancestry records, also death, marriage and birth certificates. All of the Mayfield's buried in Fairmont Cemetery are part of my extended family and I am trying to get all of their memorials updated.
