Bio and Links
Bio Photo I once thought it was strange that I found cemeteries so interesting. Some members of of my family thought it strange, too. Here I see that I'm not alone. Seriously, I think this is a great way to remember and respect our loved ones. There are many great folks to meet as well (among the living, I mean) on Findagrave. I have enjoyed meeting them and sharing. Through Findagrave I have learned that no less than five Confederate veterans are among my ancestors.

Hi,
I had to make a memorial for Ellen so that I could post her grave photos in order to delete them from my computer. If you would like a transfer, I am happy to do it.

Hi,
I posted the photos for Carl. He is in section M. I also have photo for his wife, Ellen. If you would like to make a memorial page for her, then request the photo, I will post them.

Erbie,
A good web site to help dechiper what the symbols mean on a lot of the headstones, www.graveaddiction.com. At that site, go to Gravestone Symbolism. A good book on the subject is GONE HOME by Jack and Olivia Solomon. For some of the local cemeteries around Nashville, I have found this book useful, GONE UNDER by Mark Zimmerman. And then there is the old classic, WHO'S BURIED IN GRANT'S TOMB? BY Brian Lamb. Maybe we can do some "graving" together sometime.

Mr James - thank you very much for getting these photos. Thanks for posting before I did another request as you had asked. If you could give me directions to this cemetery I will appreciate it. I plan to be in Nashville in November and would like to try to visit the grave. Thanks again. John.

Dear Mr James - Thank you for taking time to do this for me. No hurry at all. When you have time will be fine. I have not completely nailed this down yet, but believe he is the son of my Ggg grandfather's brother. Thanks for your contributions to Find A Grave and especially getting this photo for me. Best Regards, John.

RE: James at Oaklawn
I only heard back from them today. I sent off a list 2 weeks ago. They are usually pretty quick. They have never let me down, so I am sure you will hear from them.
If you do get a marker in place for her, let me know if you need a photo! It will be my pleasure to go out and get one.
