Please tell your husband that his step mom is not forgotten. Her story was on today and I left a note on this page. But please tell him how sorry I am for his loss and that she suffered in this way.

I wish that I could help you but cannot...I am not related. Just a volunteer photographing a big old cemetery in town. But since he died in 1946, you could probably order his obit from the public library at 229-382-0463. They will make an mail you a copy free. Also call Bowen Donaldson funeral home--they are very helpful.Ask to speak to Mr. Bruce Donaldson at 229-382-4255. It will take some time for both places to look it up. Ask Mr. Donaldson if he will scan the page from his book or copy the planning page from the funeral to send you by mail. It takes them a while to go back into their archives, but I have found them most helpful.

I would get both the obit and the planning sheet as you will find info you need different ..sometimes the paper does not include all details given by the family.
You might also order his military records if you are his last living relative.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask for a transfer...just use the edit key and give me your contributor number on each one you need. I am delighted that someone is interested! ( I have not finished the cemetery photos but will get back to that in December. Right now I am checking data against the cemetery book and adding those who were omitted and making corrections on many of mine! (getting older sure sucks!)

RE: Bertha O'Koon Bailen
Im very happy to pass the management over to you. I added every Bailen that I've been able to find off of to one day find some other Bailens and see how they came to the US.
My Great Grandparents and Grandparents came though Boston in 1912 (we think). But all the info I've been able to dig up makes that questionable to me. I've love to talk more, but we could do that off the website. is me, and then we can share some family history if you are willing.
