Hi - I love history and genealogy, and old cemeterys. I live in Mooresville, NC, but my family history is in Ga, SC, Fl, and NY. I am happy to help anyone in this area, and thank those who help me in other areas.

When I go to a cemetery I try to take photos of all the stones with the family name. I hope it helps get more information for researchers.

The names I am researching are
in NY

In the south
Lewis, Anderson, Coleman, Proctor, and more. This is a very old family line dating back to Pre-revelotion war.

Debbie, you've got a picture of a joint stone on D. Templeton (10886223). Would you please add a copy to C. Templeton (59310643) also, please?

RE: Vath
No, sorry I'm not related. I just entered many of the names into the Cimarron Cemetery. I do believe, however, there is a Robert Vath married to Jane Schartz that still live around Cimarron.

Hi Debbie,
I don't think you need to do anything at this point. I asked the question and filled out a form saying her name wasn't on the stone. They verified she was buried in the cemetery. Where I left it was they would have someone look at the stone (I left my camera at home....) and begin the process to install a new one with her name on it. I would guess it will take a few weeks. I'm in the cemetery regularly, so I'll go by the grave and check from time to time. Once it's there I'll post the picture and let you know.
Have a good one...

I confirmed that Matilda's name doesn't appear on the stone and went to the cemetery office. They checked their files and confirmed that she is buried in the plot but have no explanation for why her name wasn't added to the stone at the time. They said they will look into it and most likely have her name added. Though it may need a new stone if the existing one is too brittle.

RE: George Preece
Hi Debbie,
You're very welcome. Sorry I'm taking so long with Matilda. Her name isn't on George's stone, either front or back. (You've seen the front. I have a picture of the back with only the grave number showing on it.) The cemetery has her listed for the same plot number as George which should rule out her being buried next to him. (That would have her in either plot 34019 or 34021). I talked to someone in the office who assures me she is in 34020. But he also says her name "must be" on the stone. I don't think I missed anything, but I'm going back out there in the next day or so, to revisit the grave and I'll check the graves on either side. If I come up empty - as I expect - I'll visit the office again and show them my pictures. Stay tuned.
Have a good one...
