Bio and Links
Bio Photo I been working on my ancestry information for a a few years (but will always be a beginner) on the following families:

"Sharon's World & Beyond" (9/9/2013)
- Rickard, Morrison, Fry & Knapp from West Virginia

"Jeff's World & Beyond" (3/24/2016)
- Girton, Hidlay, Herrold, & Yeager from Pennsylvania.

I am working with Family Tree Maker. This project, and some quilting, helps to keep my mind active!

Originally from West Virginia. I've lived in Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, and I now live in Kentucky. As I visit other little "burgs" I stop and take a few shots of monuments if I can get to them! I love the different styles from elaborate to simple - I love them all ... especially the hard carved historical markers!

I'm willing to get out to take photos if they are easy to get to! Can't climb all over the country sides any more! Also, if there is a memorial that you would like to maintain just let me know!

Thanks for any help! God Bless! Sharon

If you have the time, please stop by and visit my Mom and Dad. I miss them very much!

And for all of you who has lost a four legged loved one, please know that our heart goes out for your loss. Please take time to visit our little lost Angel and Dixie Mae.

Virginia Howard Wolfe
Hi Sharon, I was just checking out Stephen & Alice Rickard Howard who are the grandparents of my first husband. Rosa Velt Howard McDade was the sister to Virginia. There were 3 boys and 5 girls in that family. I have a picture of all the girls when they were in their late teens and early twenties if you would like a copy. I remember Alice back when we were first married and my kids were very small. She was a tiny little lady and lived over in Mason County with one of her children but I don't remember which one.

Warren Allen Rhoades and James Franklin Rhoades
HI Sharon,

I went a hunting for my grandfathers tombstone as well as my grandmothers. I remember my father telling me and then showing me where they were buried, Sunbury (Penn) Cemetery, located on Spruce Street in Sunbury. I created a new listing for him and put the information in as well as information on my grandmother. I am not sure if you want to link it or change that info you have as Pomfort Cemetery where my father (James Franklin Rhoades) is buried. I also went and took a picture of the headstone provided by the military and added it to your info.

Selena Fidella "Della/Daisy" Hoffman Knapp
Sharon,

I just read Selena's memorial page and when I saw "Daisy" I remembered visiting my mother's Aunt Daisy on our trips to Mason, WV in the 1960's. She made knitted and crochet animals and I still have an alligator soap-bar cover that she gave me.

I'd been trying to think of her name but "Selena" didn't bring back any memories. When I saw "Daisy" all those thoughts came back!

RE: Hoffman family portrait
Dear Sharon,

I've added the Hoffman family portrait photo on the memorial pages of James Claudious and Harry Oscar Hoffman. James' page lists four sons but in the photo, there are six. There also are two daughters shown for James. Please let me know if you would like to add the photo to the pages of his other sons as well.

I know I have a printed Hoffman genealogy that should show more information. My brother was in touch with one of our great-uncles or his children about 20 years ago.

One of the brothers must be your great grandfather and James, your great, great grandfather.

Thanks again for creating and maintaining the memorial pages!

Thank you for finding that, Sharon. I did make a duplicate because of the last name so I posted the same grave marker photos and requested an edit for the GPS location on the original #129474553. Then I deleted 150203197.

Thanks again,
Dave

RE: Harry and Mabel Hoffman
Thanks again!

I've submitted the correction for Harry. If my email isn't shown, it is nwhe72@gmail.com.
Yes, I'd appreciate any information you have and will send you the photos I have.

No, I didn't know that my mother had a brother who had died as an infant. Perhaps, she was never told since it was common at that time not to.

I'd like to add Francis' mother's information to the website but can't locate the Find A Grave Memorial # for Fay Dixon. Would you have any information about her? I believe my mother told me that she was a cousin of Mabel Grace's which made my mother and aunt Francis half-sisters and cousins.

I also saw on the website that there is a Hoffman Cemetery in West Columbia, WV. It appears that only my grandparents, aunt and mother are at the Lone Oak Cemetery. Are the majority of our Hoffman ancestors buried in West Columbia? My mother was born in West Columbia but I was never there as a child when we visited Mason and Pomeroy.

Thanks again for all your help!

RE: Harry and Mabel Hoffman
Thank you so much for answering! I appreciate the work you've done on Harry's page. I want to correct his year of death to 1956 as soon as I have the exact date.

I never knew that my aunt Francis' first name was actually Hannah. The name on her Social Security card is "Francis Hoffman". I'll see if we have any paperwork that shows it and correct the internet information.

I remember meeting some of my mother's Hoffman relatives in WV in 1971. One was her uncle. I will find the photos and send them to you. She passed away suddenly in early 1972 just after her 43rd birthday. Aunt Francis also passed away suddenly when she was 41. She had no children.

I have a large family portrait from around 1912 in an oval frame with convex glass of my great-grandfather Hoffman, my grandfather and his brothers that I will sent to you as well.

It's nice to meet a Hoffman relative! Thanks again!

Mike
