I am a retired history teacher and president of the Oakwood Cemetery Association. I am also a member of the Friends of Nunda Cemeteries. I am happy to help researchers with photos or other information relating to Oakwood and our other cemeteries.
The Oakwood Cemetery Association encourages family members and researchers to add Oakwood's gravestones to Find A Grave. We also welcome all the volunteers who fulfill photo requests for our cemetery using the Find A Grave procedures. | RE: Ottmar Uebel gravemarker Thanks again, Tom. Yes, I would like the photo of his wife Nellie's gravemarker as well. I'll create a memorial for her this evening.
My great-uncle Ottmar was a tailor by trade and worked with his father August and brother Oscar in Rochester. He also later worked for Hickey Freeman. An interesting note about his burial location -- he gave up his space in the Uebel family plot at Mt. Hope in Rochester, preferring to be buried with his wife's family in Nunda. I believe there was something of a rift in the family because Uncle Ottmar converted to Catholicism after he married his wife Nellie. | | | Robert Uebel

 | Olney, Wright & Spencer Stones Thank you for all the pictures of headstones for the Olney, Wright and Spencer families! Your work is much appreciated! Kim Adams-Plehal | | | WhitePineLane
 | RE: Olney pictures Hi Tom - I did not know the link between the Olneys and the Wrights until I saw your pictures and looked into it! Fanny and John Olney's daughter Charlotte ("Lottie") was married to Robert Wright. Again, thanks so much for the pics, which provided me with more info! Kim | | | WhitePineLane
 | Olney pictures Thanks you SO much for your quick response with the Olney family headstone pictures! Much appreciated! (Fanny Adams Olney is my first cousin 5x removed!) Kim | | | Leslie_G
 | Lowells I corrected dates, linked parents and requested links of children. If you find Amanzo Lowell let me know and I will add him also - he is the only one unaccounted for. Thanks again, LGAdded by Leslie_G on Feb 23, 2013 5:16 PM | | | Leslie_G
 | Lowells I added Ebenezer and Hancy Lowell to Oakwood. I am not absolutely sure of the dates but will change them based on the stones. I'm not absolutely sure I am related either but I'm sure someone will benefit - thanks for the follow-up! LGAdded by Leslie_G on Feb 23, 2013 4:12 PM | | | Leslie_G
 | Oakwood Cemetery - Paine I removed Harriett Paine from my request list. There are requests for her brother Marcello Lowell and sister Melissa Wellman that have not been filled in the same cemetery. Her brother Amenzo Lowell also lived in Nunda but I have not found him on Find A Grave - should he happen to appear. LGAdded by Leslie_G on Feb 22, 2013 1:09 PM | | | AllisonIrene
 | Cudabec Hi Tom, Thanks for taking the picture so soon. It also helped me in another way as I'd been looking for the grave of Roy's mother, Almeda Bennett Cudabec Peyton. I see her headstone in the background of the picture you took. She was my 2nd great grandfather's (Lorenzo Peyton) second wife. Almeda died in Yucaipa, CA and her body was shipped to Dalton, NY for burial. I could not find her grave. Thank you!! | | | nmbo
