I have been doing my research since 1976 when I saw a Medal of Honor for Audie Murphy at a museum in Tennessee. I had one I thought was exactly like it so thus began my research. My medal turned out to be a medal from the GAR (Grand Army of the Republic) given to my grandfather for his 3-1/2 years of service to the Union Army during the Civil War. But my interest was piqued and with the acquisition of a computer and the internet, research became my hobby. I have traveled quite a bit doing research in other states as well.

RE: Marshall Jamison - Hartford, Iowa
You will have to send the obit via the EDIT tab on his memorial, and use Suggest a correction. I can not copy and paste from my profile page

I just read your bio and see you have family from the Belgrade area. Which family member's GAR medal do you have?

RE: Sunlight Cemetery, Belgrade, MO
As I research my own family tree, I like to post obits that I happen to come across in order to help others looking for info on their families. Mr. Downard was one of those. The Potosi Journal newspaper is now available online at: http://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/lccn/sn84024283/#tab=tab_advanced_search

I found the obit there in the Jan. 10, 1917 issue on page four.

I am glad I could help.

You are welcome,
Cindy
