Hiya,

Could you please tell me your relationship to Maryon Gail Mason? Are we distant cousins somewhere?

Koru Monastery Burial Ground
Hi
My ancestor Mary Kelly (Kehely) ne Bolger (lots of spellings) is the only person on the Koru Cemetery.
She was my g g g grandmother married to Timothy Kehely.
I have a photo from 1987 of the area where the Koru cemetery used to be.
I also have a description from a cousin Junette Kehely of the Koru Monastery Burial Ground.

"Vertical climb up hill. Must have been very difficult getting bodies up hill. The only remaining signs of it being a Burial Site are the mounds of long grass each the size of a dugout. Plot in a herringbone plan. The farmer's sheep graze all around - but they do not graze over tops of these mounds so grass always remains much tufftier and longer over actual gravesite. A common memorial stone in memory of those buried at Koru to be constructed there" Junette Kehely dated 17Mar1986

Happy to send copies of photos taken back in 1987

I am trying to verify the date of death of the above who is buried in Morrinsville cemetery. I agree the month and date but I have 1956 not 1953. Is it possible to check this?

Matamata cemetery
I am researching my great uncle Pte joseph herbert birkett. I note you are the person responsible for adding details of his grave: Matamata cemetery,Waikato.NZ. Memorial 54490388. He died 4th Sept. 1951. Thankyou for this information. Would it be possible to obtain a photograph of his actual grave? I am on ancestry.co.uk and will need to upgrade my subscription at some point so that I can get details of his military career. however, I note that you are an expert on military history and I wonder if you could point me in the right direction as to who I could write to in order to find out the background history to his army career. My grandfather Thomas Birkett (joseph herbert's brother) also went out there with him, however after the war my grandfather returned to england. J.H.B. stayed out in new zealand, never returning home to england. I am not good on the computer, however my husband has an e.mail adress. He retrieves them for me once a week. jwightman@tiscali.co.uk. Yours sincerely Anne Wightman (there are no photographs of my great uncle which survive. I am wondering if the military would have taken a photograph of him?)
