I am female, 66 years old, and semi-retired. Part-time work involves travel for a week about once a month to teach a class in various locations. I'm married, no children or grandchildren but one lively young Springer Spaniel dog and one mixed breed rescue dog. I have been researching my family tree since Nov. 2009, and this research led to my interest in Find A Grave and a realization of the importance of the gravestones and the information they provide about birth and death dates. I also realize that our old cemeteries are deteriorating, and one thing we can to is preserve the information in those cemeteries by photographing the grave stones. | |

 | RE: Walters Mount Hope Hi Chris Please understand I found no headstone for those two. I did not check with the office, I try to stay away from those as much as possible. Explanation see Rosehill Cemetery page, state Illinois, county Cook. They are citing privacy issues for not giving out information. Also Graceland, same state and county, but you must look at the requested photos section reported problems. They are charging 15 dollars if you walk in and five dollars a surname per one report. Other Cemeteries are doing the same. Most saying they will confiscate cameras. Couple that with some guy was just arrested for stealing cooper vase in cemeteries for the salvage value at junk yards. Any strangers are watched and really not to welcome. I could tell you a story about a recent visit to a cemetery they were watching. So I try and go to only one or two sections look for the stated headstone ,clean it, take the picture and say a prayer for the departed. Then I'm out of there. But a few people I have contacted and gave them the phone number for Mount Hope, had little trouble getting plot and burial information. There number is 708-371-2818. They are quite possible buried there and just don't have a headstone. Rich

 | Walters Mount Hope I went to Mount Hope today and took another look at the Walter's Lot. Their are only 14 headstones and I believe I uploaded 14 pictures. Could not find a Herbert or Loretta, but there is room for additional burials within the plot so possible they did not get headstones. This cemetery suffers with a drainage problem and I have heard of sinking markers, but I do not believe the section where the Walter's are is one of those sections as it is on high ground. | Mount Hope Walter By this time you have seen that I upload addition Walters from your initial request. I initially stopped when I could not find Loretta or Herbert, so I'll have to return to Mount Hope and check again, but not until the end of summer or the begin of fall. Also I will upload a Monument with just E.D. Walter on it and no other inscription that I could see. I believe he also has a headstone but the birth year does not match your request, so please let me know he it is the right one or not. Not that I saw any other Walters, but I could have overlooked one.
