Bio and Links
Bio Photo Hi, I am Tyler McCane and am located in La Salle County, IL.

My passion for history and genealogy has led me to start photographing my local cemetery. I've been doing this for a while now.

My family has been in the Lee/Bureau/La Salle County area since the 1840s. Some family names in the area that I am related to are: Swope, Hampton, Kessel, Fetzer, Pohl, Knauer, Fischer - and their descendants.

Corrections: If you find a memorial that I have created and have additional information or a correction (I try my best to make sure what I have entered is correct) then please send me a SAC.

Transfers: If you are a relative of the decedents memorial, you may request a transfer.

I usually will leave a flower/note on the memorial if I am related. Please, unless you are a close relative, do not request a transfer.

Please contact me with any questions and use the SAC and transfer functions. It's very rewarding to me to be able to connect the deceased with a family member. If possible, please leave a note on that person's memorial if you are related.

I am also part of the FindAGrave forums (username TylerJamesMcCane.)

Catherine Winters Allen
I am a descendent of Catherine Winters Allen. I have done extensive research on the Winters family in Monroe County, Ohio; Wayne County, Illinois; and Hays, Kansas. I have not found her maiden name nor the name of her first husband named Winters. Do you have any reference with the maiden name? Do you know if the Public Library has an Allen family file ? Her son Henry Winters was a stone mason and worked with his stepbrother, Martin Allen. I have assumed that Henry was quieter and did not earn the fame that his brother did.

Hi Tyler-

Just added her in. She is listed as Nancy Palmer - maiden name Witter.

RE: Photos of Tompkins Tombstones
Hi Tyler-

Found info at:

Apparently the data was collected in the fall of 1991. The stone I am interested in was listed as being in row 7 (south to north) #13. There is no name listed but there was a date: d Aug 14, 1871 91y. The transcription noted: "impossible to read name, marker between Hensel and O'Dell plots." The stone listed before it is William Hensell and the next listing is Frances E O'Dell.

Thank you so very much for taking the pictures for me Tyler. I really appreciate it. Would you mind if I use the picture of J.M. & Jane Wilson in my family tree book?
