Hi, I just noticed your request for a photo of this grave...it is still winter here tho' gradually things are melting. However, the cemeteries are still chained off until later when things are dried up and the cemetery roads don't get all rutted up. I read your conflicting dates so I checked the transcriptions online (not Find A Grave)and I ran his name through the historical newspapers. I found he was born Dec. ll, 1816 at Clarenceville, Quebec and died in Burke on Sept. 21, 1893. There is an Elizabeth Phillips buried with him, his wife, her dates are June 6, 1814, Clarenceville, Que. and died in Proctor, Vt. on Aug. 19, 1898. Also a Maggie Patterson, born Nov. 11, 1858 at Clarenceville, Que.; died in Burke July 21, 1898. I also found an obituary for a Fred Patterson, son of Rueben, died June 1926, age 82, in Burke. Married Mary Jane Jones of Burke, she died about 1901. He was survived by 4 brothers: Heman/Iowa, Hiram/Dakota, Lorenzo/Mass and Mark/Vt. You probably had all of that but thought I'd send it anyway. Hope the dates help with Reuben, take care, LLaPage

RE: Wait in New Lebanon
Oh and . . .

I only listed Abigail as a daughter of the family for people who are trying to match the right children up with the right parents (a challenge with the Waites, who had so many duplicate names.) I didn't mean to imply she was buried there. I don't have any information on that.

RE: Wait in New Lebanon
Yes, there is an Eleanor buried next to him. They are in lots 123 and 124. I am quite certain Eleanor is his wife, as his son Alva (my 5X great grandfather) appears to have followed traditional naming practices with his children. Eldest son Jonathan and second daughter Eleanor are both in the correct positions for the paternal grandfather and grandmother.

It is possible that Eleanor's maiden name was Phillips, as one of Jonathan's sons is named Jonathan Phillips Waite.

The Abigail Nabby Waite information comes from what is posted on the Waite research website.
