|Joshua Bates||Regarding Emma McVeigh and her son George Smith|
Good morning. My name is Joshua Bates and I am contacting you because you wrote the biography of Emma McVeigh Tambos on her FindAGrave page. I am assuming that you knew the family or are part of it. If not, I apologize. However, I am interested in finding out more about the family. She gave birth to a son by Alonzo Webster Smith named George Washington Smith (sometimes called George Joseph Smith...Joseph being his chosen Catholic name). Anyway, George is my adopted grandfather. He adopted my mother Cynthia when she was just a baby. George is still alive and well and I am conducting genealogical research on his side of the family. George was born in 1924/25 in Cardiff, Wales and moved to New York with his mother. He said he grew up on Long Island. He joined the Army and served in World War 2 as a tank commander and achieved the rank of Command Sergeant Major. He is living in Grovetown, Georgia these days.
Anyway, I hope that I have the right person. Either way, please contact me and let me know. Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
|Janice Hilton||James Tindal|
I searched Calvary Baptist Cemetery and found older James Tindals,but not this one.
Is this person of European or African descent? There is another cemetery in Sumter County by the name of Calvary and it is an African American church.
Sorry, I meant James. No Tindals buried at the Calvary Nazarene Church cemetery.
The only cemetery that I could find in the directory of cemeteries for Sumter with Calvary (Calvery ?) did not have a John Tindale buried there. It is Calvary Church of the Nazarene.

You are wondering why I contacted you with my question.... it's because it appears you're doing a great job documenting in this cemetery... I just took a wild stab at contacting you, believing that you knew what was what. You are being modest. I have seen your work. You're doing a beautiful job... that's why I contacted you... needed to speak with someone who would be helpful... to me that seemed like it would be YOU!
Looking forward to hearing back... don't want to add a memorial and be wrong about the cemetery. I agree with you though... it looks like this is where Burnell should be as far as cemetery location.

Christine, I have added a memorial for Burnell McGhaney... The death certificate indicates that the burial should be in this cemetery. Please get back with me and let me know if you agree that Mr. McGhaney has been placed/memorialized in the correct cemetery-I see that you have done a great deal of documentation in this cemetery so I am turning to you for advice.
See my page on Mr. McGhaney

The marker is up high on a wall and I had to use telephoto lens to get it, and the sun was making it difficult to see. I tried to correct, but will try to take the picture again when I am there. The Garden Mauseleum, is a series of 30 foot exterior walls, so when they are high, I always have trouble. Sometimes it is better at a different time of day, so will try again.

A volunteer snuck a camera out to Pinelawn and took some lovely photos of my cousin Gloria and Carls resting place for th efamily.
It will give their daughters comfort, I know. Ha! The grinches in the office were circumvented.
I am grateful for your offer
Continued good work here!
