I am interested in old cemeteries and genealogy. Though I hold a full time job I can occasionally take photos at cemeteries within a 5 mile radius of New Cambria, KS. I am especially interested in the cemeteries where I have family resting but any old cemetery sparks an interest. | |

That's sad about their deaths, the way they went but comfort knowing they're not in pain anymore.
If the markers are incorrect, you, as family, can always call the VA Office and "possibly" have a new marker placed. If it's a real old one, like Civil War, they won't replace them. If you want to call the office, their number is (913) 758-4105.
Leavenworth hasn't changed much since you left, except places closing down. Everyone goes to Kansas City to shop. I call it "the dried up little town".....so sad.

I have found several errors on markers from our two National Cemeteries in Leavenworth, not only dates but names. The marker could be incorrect. According to the VA National Database it reads:
Ralph L. Brown
PFC 363 Inf Regt
US Army, World War II
02-27-1915
09-02-1953
Section 37, Row 10, Grave 31
You could try calling the office at the VA, they have the original records of burial (913) 758-4105 and ask them to look up his YOB on their records and also ask for any other information they have on record. If the marker is incorrect, they could possibly replace it if it is a request from family.
