Bio and Links
Bio Photo I was born and raised in New Jersey, first in the small town of Liberty Corner and then 43 years at the Jersey Shore. I am now retired in Okeechobee, FL after spending 20 years owning a craft supply shop and later a well-known Jersey Shore Florist.
Health problems forced a retirement earlier than hoped for, however, it gave me more time to pursue my "other" passion in life . . genealogy.
It started back in the 70's when I would take my mother . . who gave me the bug . . to libraries and museums in hot pursuit of an ancestor. How well I remember the hours spent copying, writing and then transferring notes to endless three-ring binders. The computer has indeed simplified the whole process with an astounding amount of information right at your fingertips.
One of them is Find-a-grave which I will now try to spend sometime with adding my family knowledge to it. My roots are deep in New Jersey, my ancestors, English and Dutch, arriving in America in the 1600's and settling in Monmouth County, NJ . . so rich in history. I am pretty familiar with that County having spent thousands of hours reading census reports and history books of the area. Perhaps I can be of help if your family is from there. Happy Hunting . . .

Memorial corrections
Susan,

I was wondering if you are getting my correction emails. I have been going through all the memorials in the Old Stone Presbyterian Church in Lewisburg, WV and updating them with any missing info I find. The church has a Cemetary burial catalogue with a listing of all the people ever buried there with a gold mine of historical info. If you would prefer I can send corrections through your page. Just let me know. Thank you for all you do for findagrave.com. Your hard work and time is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Leslie Acord

If you want to order something from the Museum Store & can wait, the store offers everything at 50% off in January. I hope that they keep the annual winter sale going because I keep adding to my collection & getting gift books for our family members.

Thomas Edgar
BTW, there was a Tom Edgar who had a very large farm just outside of Hillsboro. I believe that he was a WV Senator. He had injuries from military service - WWII? - He was in a wheelchair & had an elevator installed in their historic brick farm manor-style house. Tom was my parents & in-laws age and acquaintances w. my in-laws. As a teenager dating their son, I was on the Edgar Farm & in their home a few times.

I'm certain that he was named after the Thomas Edgar connected to your gravesite request.

Now, another pioneer family lives there, but the wife & husband were acquaintances of our sons, so I don't mind asking if it's ok to get photos on the farm. All the farms in the "Upper Levels" area of the Greenbrier Valley, near Hillsboro, WV have kept their farms intact & mostly within the same extended families. The Edgar line dwindled down in this area - altho I believe I remember Tom Edgar & his wife having at least one child - a daughter about my age.

Our Pocahontas County, WV library has built a very good geaneology collection. The one in Lewisburg is even better. I'll get the website & other connection info to you by the end of next week.

Old Stone Church Cemetery gravesites
If you want photos of any other gravesites in the Old Stone Church Cemetery in Lewisburg, WV, just let me know. Are there any other relatives buried there? I'll look around when I'm down there for any apparent conections.

request for pics from Old Stone Church Cemetery, Greenbrier Co., WV
I just viewed requests from you and other Find A Grave members for the Old Stone Church Cemetery, Greenbrier Co., WV. I live abt 1 hr. 45 min away, but we often have medical appts and/or shopping to do in the Lewisburg area.

I have driven & walked by this cemetery many times & know right where it is. However, right now my truck is out of commission. As soon as I get it repaired/replaced or my hubby has time to drive his (pride & joy) truck that way, I'll get those pics to you.

I am an amatuer photographer & won't mind at all taking several pics. If I can't get to the cemetery by Memorial Day/early summer, I'll ask one or more of our family or friends who live &/or work in the Lewisburg area to get some pics to me, then I'll upload them to you. Glad to help!
