RE: Downing ancestry
Looks like we are not in the same line......yet!!!! Every time I think I have exhausted my search someone else climbs my tree and builds a house loaded with kids. Seems my line stopped at the Ohio-Ky. Line and never went SOUTH. Every direction except South until the 20th century when 3 of my siblings moved to Florida. Thanks for your reply.

Downing ancestry
Have you researched your Downing line ? I have my line 7 generations back. Just wondering if we connect. My tree is gravehuntermary on On Find a grave it starts with my dad, Earl Elmer 1912-1971 buried at Calvary cemetery in Kettering, Montgomery, Ohio.

RE: Mary Hays
This family has been very elusive. My sister and I have looked for information on Louis and Mary for over 20 years and haven't made much progress.

Mary and her son Alfred are both buried in the Joyce Cemetery, Jefferson County, Indiana. There is an Unknown Hays grave next to Alfred that may be Louis grave, but there is no marker or record.

Louis was living with his daughter in the 1860 Jefferson County Census and enlisted in the Indiana Militia in 1862.

At least two of his children moved to the Effingham/Jasper county, IL area, but there seem to be family ties back to Monroe and Brown County, Indiana.

My notes on this family are at

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Joseph alley
He is not listed as being buried in Andrew county. I did a death records search and found a Joseph s alley that died in saint Joseph missouri in July 1951. I would suspect he is buried somewhere in saint joseph

RE: Sarah Seaman
Hi Becky,
You are welcome. Doesn't sound as though Sarah was the lady you were in search of. Sorry. Good luck in that search. It's really hard to find a headstone from that early in the 1800's. Weather and vandals from ages ago have pretty well ruined our hopes of ever finding someone buried so long ago.
