| Bio and Links | I am 66 years old & love to work on my family's history. I am working on the Suther - Ketner - Moose - Allman - Eudy - Sellers - Clay Families. I make a lot of mistakes and & appreciate anyone to let me know of them. I will gladly transfer any info or a memorial to anyone who would like to have it. There days that I am in a wheel chair so it may take me awhile to get back with you as on these days my pain is bad. Please feel free to add pictures or info. I will try hard to help anyone with any info I have. I love hearing from new people. I am not very good with the computer yet, my grandchildren told me that I should have never gotten one, that is because when I mess up they have to come fix it. Enough on me. Have a Blessed life. | |

 | RE: Clay If they are linked to the Halifax Co., Virginia area, please share. I am having problems with locating records because of the 1881-1899 dead zone. Seems like every courthouse had a fire that destroyed records in the early 1900's. Thanks, David | | | David Clay
 | Ralph Alexander Bostian Do you know if he is buried next to his wife, Martha Louise.? Also, I noticed you are tracing the Clay family line. Good luck with yours, I keep hittong roadblocks and lack of information.

 | RE: Bertie Moose Cindy, I don't have a clue as to who this person is and how she fits into the family. I am not sure I mentioned to you my niece, Jan Bean has been helping add memorials to Find A Grave. When Bertie Moose Edwards's memorial was added was just a short time after my husband died and I wasn't doing that much genealogy. On Bertie's death certificate has her middle name as Martha and she was the daughter of Martha Moose, father unknown. I will write to Jan and see what she has to say. I don't think this Bertie Moose is the daughter of Robert and Mary Moose.Added by Sharon on Jan 23, 2013 10:05 AM | | | Tavenner
 | RE: Sarah Sides Hi Cindy,
In response to your note to me on 10/7/12 ...
I'm pretty sure the Sarah Sallie Sides (1828-1884) that married Rowland A Lowder (1825-1864) was never remarried. She's listed as a widow in the 1870 census (living with her children) and in the 1880 census (living with her son W. H. Lowder "Whitlock" and his wife (Lucy) and their child). Both of those census records are for Ridenhour, Stanly, NC.
She dies 4 years later (on 7 Aug 1884) and is buried in Salem UMC Cemetery, Albemarle, Stanly, NC where most of her children are buried. (Her last name is incorrectly spelled "Louder" on her headstone. Find A Grave Memorial# 83185969
She, along with her husband and children are all listed (with dates) in a book source called the "Stanly County Lowders" page 332, author is Elsie Mae Lowder Edward Fisher.
The other Sarah ... Sarah Ann Sides (1848-1923) who marries Martin Monroe Poplin (1884-1922) in 1865, is shown living with him in the 1870, 1880 1900, 1910 and 1920 census records. The 1910 census shows that they have both only been married once. I also don't ever see her using the name "Sallie" in any of the records.
She is confirmed through the headstone she shares with her husband at Pine Grove Methodist Church Cemetery (Find A Grave Memorial# 44606862), and her death certificate that lists her dates and parents names, etc.
A lot of people have mixed up the two Sarah Sides because they both lived in Stanly County around the same time, and probably because they both had daughters named Francis "Frankie" as well ... but Sarah Sides Lowder was 20 years older, and died 40 years prior to Sarah Sides Poplin.
Thanks again for helping to correct the records, and have a great weekend.
Mike

 | RE: Sarah Anna Sides Lowder Hi Cindy,
I just saw the note you left on my message page back on Sep 19th, and I can't figure out what it's a reply too? Did I ask you for a link ... or ask you a question? Sorry, I don't remember ... but I just can't figure it out.
Anyway, I think you might have the two Sarah Sides and one of their kids mixed up? Or I may have something wrong too?
Here's what I'm showing:
Sarah Ann Sides: born 12 Sep 1848 in Stanly, NC. Died: 14 Feb 1923 in South Albemarle, Stanly, NC.
She was the daughter of: George Miller Sides (1823-1885) and Ithama Fannie Cagle (1826-1902).
She married Martin Monroe Poplin (1844-1922) in abt. 1865, and they had 5 children:
George R Poplin (1866–1879) Jonah Calvin Poplin (1868–1932) Frances A. "Frankie" Poplin (1871–1911) John William "Johnie" Poplin (1873–1918) Haughty Monroe Poplin (1875–1954).
She is buried at Pine Grove Methodist Church Cemetery, Stanly, NC and shares a headstone with her husband. 3 of her children are also buried there. Her death Certificate mentions the dates, her parents names, her son as the informant, the last name Poplin, widowed, and the burial location. Her Find A Grave Memorial is # 44606862
Sarah # 2
Sarah Sallie Sides: born 26 Jan 1828 in Stanly, NC. Died: 7 Aug 1884 in Stanly, NC.
She married Rowland Aaron Lowder (1825-1864)in abt. 1847 and had the following children:
Daniel Henry Lowder (1848–1932) Moses Edward "E. D." Lowder (1850–1929) David Alexander Lowder (1851–1914) Francis "Frankie" Lowder (1854–1914) Colmond "Cole" Lowder (1856–1943) Crawford Lowder (1858–1931) Whitlock H Lowder (1859–1927) Mary Lucy Lowder (1862–1934) * I've seen other people making Moses and Edward 2 different people, but I think it's just because there are duplicate and corrected death certificates floating around on Ancestry? Still not certain?
She is buried at Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery in Albemarle, Stanly County, NC. (Find a Grave # 83185969. Most of her children are also buried there. Her husband; Rowland Aaron Lowder died in The Civil War at The Spotsylvania Court House Battle. (Co. B - 5th Regiment NC Infantry). His remains would have been relocated from the battlefield graves to the Spotsylvania Confederate Cemetery, Spotsylvania County, Virginia (Find A Grave # 83186599).
If I'm missing anything, or if you see something wrong, or have any other info ... please let me know. Rowland Lowder and Sarah Sallie Sides are my 3rd Great grand parents, and I'm always looking for more info on them.
Thank You -
Mike

 | My apologies! In January, you emailed me, asking me to link up some relatives. I'm so sorry it's taken me this long to get it done, but I'm linking them this very moment! Thank you for your information and patience. Are you related to Linnie and John Keener, by chance? | | | Suzan K. Owen
 | Moses Lafayette Pickler Hi Cindy. While I was going through the Pickler's you transferred to me and trying to link family members, I noticed another Memorial for Moses L. Pickler (Find A Grave #44970671) in Kendall's Baptist Church Cemetery, Stanly Co. vs. yours (now mine) for Moses Lafayette Pickler, in the Old Pickler Cemetery (Find A Grave #54753083), and the other has a headstone pic. w/ it. Where did you get your info, do you remember? Just thought to check, same thing for his wife, Mollie A. Lowder Pickler(Find A Grave #44970705) vs. your M. Adlett Lowder Pickler (Find A Grave #54753148). Something is wrong somewhere, they can't be buried in both cemeteries. | | |
