RE: Ruben Ortega #6292088
I was hoping you would contact me! I did take a photo of the headstone and posted it, and then discovered that there was already a photo there - and much better than the one that I took. I had deleted your message from my in-box before I went to the cemetery (which I will not do again!) and you posted message disappeared when I posted the photo. Sorry for the long explanation! In any case, I will be happy to send you the photo of the entire headstone. I'm sorry that I did not understand that you wanted a close-up of the photo and I can take that photo the next time that I go to the cemetery. However, I don't hold much hope for it. The photo is terribly faded, as you will see in the photo that I took. Please contact me at and I will send the photo back to you. Then, when I take the close-up, I will send that to you as well. For your records, his grave is located in Section C, Tier 34, Grave 31.

RE: Robert & Elizabeth Squire

You're welcome. The only Pottertons that I have come across were the ones that I photographed or transcribed at East Side Cemetery in Dodgeville. I don't think I found who Elizabeth's parents.

Yours Truly,
LeRoy A.

You are so right. The obituary must be for someone buried at Laurel Hill. Thanks for the update.

I just wanted to thank you for posting the wonderful pictures of the Conrows! May I copy them to my Ancestry Tree with credit to you?

RE: Alma & Joseph Conrow
Glad to do it. They are resting in a beautiful building with a fountain nearby and lots of wonderful light.

It is possible, but short of an archeology style dig in the cemetery, or some gardener happening to hit a stone, it will continue to be lost. When I go to an old site such as this... I frequently probe at the end of the line of markers with a small metal dowel to see if any other stones/markers are laying just below the surface / covered with dirt... I usually go down about 1-3 inches [depending on the soil] and see if I hit another stone... sometimes it works, usually it does not. I don't remember doing that process at this cemetery... was not part of my S.O.P. at that time when I visited this site... and guess that is the only thing left to do... perhaps will put it on the list of things to do this summer when passing through that town.
