 | RE: John Egan Memorial photos Articles are on GenealogyBank which is a paid subscription. It's great if they have the area newspapers you'd be interested in and I think they have monthly fees, not just yearly. You might want to check it out. I'd offer to send you the articles but I have yet to figure out how to download and save them..only managing to print so far.Added by BjJ on Jun 14, 2012 2:17 PM | | | BjJ
 | RE: John Egan Memorial photos What an interesting story! Yes, one of the articles mentioned that the two cousins in the U.S. would most likely win their case. Would be interesting to know if he had commissioned the monument before his death or if the nephews did out of the proceeds of the will. That was quite expensive back in those days but it is very impressive and beautiful. Good luck with your family research!Added by BjJ on Jun 13, 2012 7:49 PM | | | BjJ
 | RE: John Egan Memorial photos Yes, you may use the photos in your personal files and thank you for asking. His monument is one of the most beautiful tombstones in the cemetery, just gorgeous up close. I found his obituary and posted it. Do you know what he did for a living? If he lived in Pawnee, he most likely was a farmer of some stature, based on the size of the stone but am just guessing. I also found where his will was contested by his 2 nephews who lived near/with him. Evidently the bulk of his estate was left to a nephew in Ireland so the other two contested it. I did not find an outcome posted.Added by BjJ on Jun 13, 2012 5:17 PM | | | Paul1957
