|John Franklin Horrighs||James H. Roland|
Did you make the 150th Ann. of Champion Hill? It was such a hot day!! I was there as a Confed. reenactor but my heart was with the UNION! What an awesome experience. I tracked over the ground the 5th Iowa advanced over and I can tell you those boys had it rough!

Hope all is well in your world. Glad to find you here as well as on Ancestry. I just read your post on Kathy Winters page as I've asked for John Laurence Lambertson's memorial. If she's related to him, I'm happy to find more family. If not, I've got some stuff to put on his page. Anyway, rambling here. I read your post & that trip to Champion Hill sounds like a great time. Please do post your notes on the trip & photos. I'm excited to see & read all about it!!! BTW, what date do you have as a date of birth for John Laurence (Lawrence)Lambertson? I have 6 Jul 1849 from the death certificate as stated by Ella. I see the headstone says 1854. How the heck did that change in a matter of a few days?

There is no James H Roland listed at Vicksburg. There is a James W Rowland, another death date from IL. There are thousands of undocumented Civil War Soldiers at Vicksburg. It doesn't seem quite right to add him there. We know he died and was buried originally at Champion. I don't know quite what to do. I envy you your tour of the battlesite.........K
