It all began innocently enough with a comment by my father, who had lost his mother when he was a young child that he had always wondered where his mother was buried.

After his death, I found myself in possession of a number of books and photos of his family and an interest in finding out about all these people began to take hold. The rest is history, so to speak.

I am a retired payroll professional with a love for history so it just seemed natural for me to expand on that love and delve into my own personal history. I have an extensive and comprehensive family tree on (The Apple Pan - A Dowdy Family History), but as an extension of that tree, I've begun to add memorials to, or to expand on memorials established by others.

During the course of a road trip into New Mexico and Texas in 2007, I believe I have found where my father's mother is buried. Now I only wish that my father were still here so that I could share this news with him. One day --

RE: Jefferson D Dowdy Family History
For some reason, I can't reply to your email address other than on here.

I have never heard of these people. The only Dowdy's I know are buried at Liberty Baptist Church in Somerville, TN.

I was thinking about what you said that is why I didn't get back to you till now.
Knowing where she is buried and by whom makes it a lot easier.
As for her Parents and Grandparents it makes it easier to work on the genealogy.
Thank you for all the work that you have done on this side of the family.

Ruth: Went to my WorldVitalRecords site and found the following info on a Bayless Broadway.
Born: 7/1/1893 Florence, Lauderdale Co., Al
Died: 5/24/1920 Lauderdale Co., AL
His father's name is given as Charles E. Broadfoot. No burial site is mentioned and since I didn't get a hit from Billiongraves I'm not sure it is yet recorded. My or may not help but thot I'd try. Ray

Shannon Cemetery
Since you know more about this than I do, you need to contact Find-A-Grave and have them put that Shannon Cemetery is also known as Pleasant Valley. If there is a cemetery created in that name then they need to merge the two. Patti

RE: Floyd Otter Grave Marker

It is totally clear that you want a picture of an Otter Grave marker in the Duncan-McDonald Cemetery. But someone cannot just put a grave marker into a cemetery without the District's permission and registering it.
I am very curious as to why the Porterville Cemetery District has no record of any Otter name being associated with Duncan-McDonald Cemetery since they manage this cemetery? (Or the Otter name found in any other cemetery within their district)
It is a bit of a drive for me...60 miles to and 60 miles back for a marker that may not be there.
I will inform Porterville Cemetery District that there may be a non-burial marker for Floyd Otter and a burial for Micki Otter that is not registered in the Duncan-McDonald Cemetery.
This is the best I can do. Do you have dates of the marker placement. The death of Mickie Otter?

Because I have a picture of the temporary stone for his wife Flora, I went back to the cemetery and probed for a stone next to her. I did not find anything on her right and Violet Elliot on her left.
