Bio and Links
Bio Photo Originally from Los Angeles, California, I moved to the Washington D.C./Baltimore area for a number of years. I had always been interested in history, but moving back east my interest in history grew even more. I guess it had to do with actually being able to go to and see and touch everything you always had only read about made a big difference for me. I currently live in Oregon and have taken on my family's genealogy after my grandmother who was doing it died. I have always been interested in cemeteries especially the old ones.

Do to health reasons, I can no longer take photographs for Find A Grave. Sorry.

The "fine print" :)

For photos that I have already taken, you may use the photographs that I take freely for genealogical and research purposes. I just ask that you give me photo credits for the photographs. If you plan to publish a book or the equivalent, I would appreciate a request in writing, this will alleviate any possible copyright issues in the future.

My very best wishes to you.

Please remove your "Photo". The information should be in the Note section, not taking up server space.

If you have more of my memorials that need the note "No Marker" added. Please let me know.

RE: Lizzie Calloway, Brownsville Oregon Pioneer Cemetery
It does not sound strange at all. I always say "hello" to a few special graves when I pass them by in my home cemeteries, and I have learned the stories of some of the folks from the relatives whose requests I filled. I feel like the deceased are friends of mine. Some make me cry, too.

I understand your dismay. I just bought a cane and started using it three weeks ago; I resisted as long as I could, and there were several parts of Brownsville Pioneer Cemetery which I wanted to investigate, but being alone, unsteady on my pins, I could not risk it. Walking is problematic and painful. And that cemetery is vertical in places ...

I am on vacation, and have been to six Oregon Pioneer cemeteries so far. I'm having a WONDERFUL time. Have you been to the Gardiner Oregon Pioneer Cemetery? I was absolutely enchanted. If not, please check out the picture I have added to that cemetery's page. It is a gorgeous place! Kind of vertical, but intelligently laid-out, and maneuverable with a cane, mostly. I would loathe being a pall bearer there, though!

I'll pass along your regards to the folks I visit.

Hi,

I think that the two words which are missing from your transcription of the engraving on her grave marker are "friend" and "trod". I was out there yesterday looking at the stone, and I think that is what it says. In addition, at the time she died, they rhymed poetry, and that would rhyme with what is very clear.

Please remove the "Photo" saying "no Marker", my note saying "No Headstone" takes care of that. Thanks!
